Chan double checked the address that he'd found online for the Hyundai headquarters Sooyeon had mentioned she worked at before opening his car door and jumping out of the huge four by four. He picked up the flowers off the passengers seat, took a deep breath and waited.
Sooyeons best friend, Yunhee, had told Chan that every day she would come out of the building and go to the park near by to eat her lunch regardless of the weather. He really hoped she was right because clouds blanketed the sky and he didn't want to wait outside for her, for her to never exit the tall building.
He nervously checked his phone to check that she would be on her lunch break, and according to Yunhee she would have gotten off work 3 minutes ago. He could slit a mans throat with little hesitation, he could keep his cool in the most extreme situations, but standing out side of his car a bouquet of pink flowers in his hand his body was riddled with nerves. He felt ridiculous as he gripped the stems so tight the thorns on some of the roses cut into his palm drawing blood.
He was getting restless and was nearly going to abandon his attempt at romance when Sooyeon's bouncy head of brown hair came into view. She looked like she'd had a crappy morning, and the way she was glaring at the path in front of her made her seem like she would kill the next thing that dared approach her.
But that was ok because Chan wasn't scared of getting killed, that was the kind of thing he wasn't scared of. So he pushed off the side of his car locking it behind him running up to where Sooyeon was walking. "Hey" he said next to her ear making her jump out of her skin.
"Chan!" She yelped "I swear to god, you scared the living daylights out of me" she laughed joining Chan in his laughter, his dimples prominent on his cheeks.
"Sorry" he laughed "but you should have seen your face"
She rolled her eyes at him before focusing on the flowers in his hand "oh right yeah" he muttered "these are for you" he added thrusting the bunch in her general direction.
"Wow chan thank you so much, you didn't have to" she smiled accepting the bunch "are those peonies?" She asked smelling the flowers.
"I don't know" Chan admitted.
"They're so beautiful" she smiled.
Chan couldn't help but compare her fragile frame to the delicate flowers in her hand. "I'm glad you like them" he breathed "so how about I take you out for lunch?" He suggested.
"That would be amazing, I have an hour or so" she grinned wrapping her arm around Chan's, gripping his muscular forearm.
"Cool I know a good place" he smiled back leading her down the street, staking glances at her the whole way.
"Wow I've never noticed this cafe before" Sooyeon commented as he led her into a arty cafe people their age dotted at the Parisian style tables.
"Not many people know about it" chan shrugged leading her up to the counter "order what ever you would like" he smiled his signature dimples making an appearance.
"Thank you" Sooyeon smiled looking up at the black chalk board.
"Hey Channniieee" a girl screeched from behind the counter.
"Jamie" Chan smiled "I don't think you would be here today"
"Well here I am" she smirked, she transitioned effortlessly into English as she continued to speak to Chan "it's been a while since you've come here" she commented.
"It's been a while since you left" Chan mused smiling at his old friend.
"Well I had to get out of there" she admitted.
