"it's just cancer, jisoo."

jisoo looked at you in question, an eyebrow raised as she puts down her cup of coffee. "what do you mean it's just cancer? who has cancer?"

you gulped hard, you knew this was gonna happen sooner or later. this conversation. it's just weird that you were the one who brought it up, eventhough you promised yourself you'd never. maybe it was just a slip of the tongue.

"i do." you said in confidence, making it incredibly convincing that it's not a big deal to you.

jisoo's face dropped, her mouth formed into an o as she processed what you've just said. "w-what?"

you just looked down, fiddling with your fingers as you nod, "yeah."

you spent the next few minutes in silence. just until the girl in front of you decided to stand up, grab her things, and without a word, walks out of the café. did you have any idea where she was going? no. but you were sure you'll see her again later — you lived together, afterall.

i bet you're asking yourself how you got this... disease. they thought it was a tumor at first. or maybe just something that's growing near your appendix. once they decided to remove that, that small thing was still there. so it wasn't your appendix at all. after a few more tests, the doctors finally concluded you had this type of cancer, and you're on the fourth stage. it wasn't too late to fix things, but maybe for others, it was.

you decided not to tell jisoo because you'd know it'd worry her too much. as a girlfriend would. she'd take care of you, worry about every single thing you'd do and every single decision you'd make. but saying that now, you became selfish. why didn't you tell jisoo? why hide this from her for months and just kept on telling her you had meetings to go to when in reality you were gone for your weekly chemo treatments.

but no one can blame you. you're afraid. afraid that once jisoo knows all about this, she'll leave you. leave you to be, leave you to die. even if you've known her for most of your life, you couldn't help but doubt it.

the sun set and you're back in your apartment, waiting for jisoo to come knocking on the door or it being opened by itself as she uses her own key.

you waited and waited for hours. by the time you physically felt your eyes about to shut, you heard the door unlock, the sound of the dogs paws running down the hall to greet the person who'd just entered.

"kuma-ya~" jisoo cooed, picking up the small dog.

she set her jacket aside and removed her shoes as she went to the living room. you were upstairs, watching her every move. of course she knew you were already here, it was only a matter of time until–

"jennie?" she called your name making your heart stop beating. not in a good way.

you hummed as an answer, "we need to talk."

you nodded your head although knowing she couldnt see you. you put on your fluffy bunny slippers and unicorns are real sweater, and go downstairs. your eyes met jisoo's as she smiled at you softly.

if a stranger were to see this, they wont even think that jisoo's the type of person who'd run out of a public place after their significant other just told them some bad news.
