sometimes, chaeng just needed a certain someone to remind her that she was more than what the voices in head were telling her.

--

"chaeyoung?" lisa's voice echoes around the dorm. she was worried because chae disappeared from their recording session. the girl just said she had to go to the bathroom but she never came back. they were working on a new song, eventhough knowing it probably won't even see the light of day, but it was worth a shot. blackpink needed somewhere to go.

lisa raises her eyebrow when there was no response. there was nowhere else rosé was supposed to go except for their dorm. she can't be in public this time of the day. she calls her name one more time and was now walking around, entering every single room, wandering her eyes at every corner.

after searching every single room, the only place left lisa hasn't checked is their music room, which was mainly just there unused basement.

she creaks the door open and there she finally hears the soft sound of an electric keyboard. it's volume was obviously put on low saying lisa didn't hear anything back upstairs.

"rosie?"

the room instantly turns quiet and the playing stops, lisa starts to hear sniffing like someone's been crying.

her heart dropped as she turns the corner, seeing chaeng in her sleeping attire. she was sitting on a comfy chair but looking down onto the floor. her hands just slowly flopped down to her lap coming from the keyboard.

lisa doesn't mutter anything and just walks over to where the girl was.

her hands find their way landing on chae's back. she started rubbing in circles, until she just slides down in for a back hug.

it's been awhile since the two were in a room, alone. sure, they had the dorm. but everyone knows when they have a free day, all of them stay in their own rooms.

chaeyoung tends to play random songs on her piano. singing along all the while hitting all the notes perfectly. lisa on the other hand was sitting straight up on her bed. her back resting on the headboard as she fiddles with her hands. all she hears is chaeng's voice, echoing down the hallways and entering lisa's own room. she smiles to herself, feeling her cheeks heat up in excitement and happiness. that voice belonged to her bestfriend — whom she was so deeply in love with.

seeing chaeyoung cry was a normal thing for lisa. but this wasn't the cry she managed to witness every week or so. the cry where her nose scrunches up and leaves a tint of pink by the end, this wasn't it. that was the kind of crying she does when chae manages to finish a book, or when she sips a cup of tea too hot for her, or when she finishes watching Titanic for the hundreth time.

the park chaeyoung crying in front of her was different.

this had a whole new reason.

a reason that only lisa knows.

chaeyoung is diagnosed with clinical depression and anxiety. she's had it since she moved to korea so many years ago. the happy, bubbly, teenager that migrated from australia, that lisa met inside the elevator at 5 in the morning. the teenager who had a guitar wrapped around her. the girl who was super friendly and had the hottest accent lisa's ever heard.

her heart aches whenever she sees that once, happy, teenager so... heartbroken.

"i'm here, chae." lisa whispers into the girl's ear. she rubs up and down chaeyoung's arms, careful not to touch her wrists, for that's where most bad memories belonged. "you're okay. nothing's wrong."
