"ready to order, ma'am?" the waitress walks up to you for the fifth time that night. she's been serving all the other people in the restaurant for the past hour. you're still the only person she hasn't taken an order from.
you smile at her as you look down on the menu, that by this time, you've already memorized. "just a few more minutes," you say, hoping your date's just late.
the waitress nods at you, turns around, and releases out a quick sigh. she knew what was going on and was afraid that this girl she's just taking orders from, will walk out of this restaurant without a full stomach, and a bucket of tears streaming down her face.
by the time you look up again, your phone vibrates. your heart jumps. you grab your phone from your side, right where it was resting, expecting a text that they're just late.
but you check, and it's just a text from your best friend. saying that you should stop wasting your time on this date and that they've told you a hundred times that this person your crushing on, is, ironically, also crushing your heart.
you roll your eyes, still not ready to admit this information to yourself. you type in a reply: jisoo. i'm okay. she's just late.
you close your eyes, breathing in deeply. then again, this isn't the first time she's bailed on someone. especially, not only you.
your phone vibrates again: jennie, this is your third date you've planned with her. do you really expect she'll show up just because she said she'll make it up to you? give it up, jen. just walk out now and come back here.
a tear manages to get through you as it rolls down your cheek. jisoo has always been right. you never really doubted her. but for some reason, your arrogant self just doesn't want to believe her. because this lisa-girl you like seems, well, seemed, to like you too. she flirts with you alot. she gives you chocolates, unexpected gifts, handwritten letters (that jisoo says aren't even written by her because that girl has horrible penmanship), and even walks you home every after class. you've fallen head over heels for her eventhough your best friend always had this hatred toward her. but you know that jisoo just wants to protect you, as all best friends do.
you close your phone and put it on silent. you place it in your bag, not wanting to open it anymore. even if jisoo texts you, or maybe... maybe even lisa finally texts you. but, you just decided on waiting. yeah, just wait.

another hour passes by, and the waitress has gone back to you for three times already. your response to her question is still the same. still trying to find that silver lining in this horrible situation. everytime, she gave you a sympathetic look and once even offered you a free milkshake. and if not a milkshake, maybe some wine? you still say no with both choices. she just tucks her pen back in her pocket and nods, walking away.
