17.

 I hear a yell and my body acts on instinct, running to where I heard it.

"Sayuri wait" Kiba shouts, I hear him stumble as he stops and yells for the others to halt 

No I cant wait, I need to go, that was Ronin I think as I push myself faster through the branches

I arrive seconds later and launch myself into action right away, 

I step right between Norio and the attacker, pushing Kunai against kunai

"Sayuri" he exclaims, falling back against the tree

I take a step forward pushing my opponent back as I take in her power she's not much bigger then me but she's pretty strong

she huffs and launches back,  instead of following I crouch next to Norio as I keep eye contact with her, eyes darting back and forth between her and looking around the woods for anyone else

"where are you hurt?" I ask holding up my kunai to ward off any of her attacks but she doesn't seem intent on attacking, she just stands there 

"Norio where are you hurt? Guide my hand to it so I can heal you" 

where is her team? where is Ronin? it was his shout I heard but where is he? whats her plan, what is she doing'

Norio guides my hand down to his stomach and I gasp feeling the thick slit of flesh and the hot blood coming from it 

"I don't know-" he gasps and I feel his head roll back 

I take my eyes off the enemy, dropping my kunai "Norio stop" I plead "wake up, don't close your eyes" I huff and place both my hands over his stomach trying to staunch the blood flow 

I start threading chakra together to heal the wound but there is so much that needs healing I hope Sakura gets here soon, she can help with this

A blade slips onto my neck, making my neck tingle with the cool steel 

I gasp, I let my guard down, how did she get behind me? but flicking my eyes over to where the girl was last standing I see that she is still there this must be her teammate then

so now I have to deal with two of them I start pushing more chakra into Norio if something happens to me I want him to be safe even if its just till someone else can get to him to help, I need to distract them  until help comes, Kiba and the others have to be close

"Where is my other teammate? What did you do to him?"  I speak up, trying to ignore the way the blade pressed agaisnt my neck 

I hear the man chuckle behind me "funny, we were just about to ask you the same thing" he takes my hair and tightly grips it in his fist and starts to drag me away from Norio 

"No, no, no" I desperately plead, as soon as he jerked me I lost my concentration and Norio's wound started to unravel, I try to pull against him but the man slams his fist into the side of my head

"shut up" he says, my vision is blurry in my left eye and I can feel the bruise forming on my face "where is the other boy? he has the scrolls" the man demands turning me to face him 

gathering up all my saliva I spit it into his face "screw you" Kiba get here soon, Ronin please be safe, Norio wake up

with an angered shout the man slams his fist into my head again just as he pulled back for another punch I raised my hands to try and stop it and got the full force of the punch on my hurt wrist 

"AHH" I screamed, I could feel the bones shatter

the man laughs and throws me to the ground, a few feet away from Norio 

I blink slowly trying to make out the scene with my right eye, the left one was swollen shut 

the woman flicks her long black hair as she draws another kunai, spinning it in her hand she says "we should just kill them both, they aren't any use to us anyway since neither of them have the scroll"

I grunt as I rise to my feet and grab a handful of shuriken with my good hand "you arent getting near him on my watch" 

"we probably dont even have to worry about taking care of him anymore Asiko, looks like he's already dead" the man says to the woman 

I gasp, turning around "Norio!" I shout, but I hear the women start to run towards us, I jump towards Norio and throw up a shield around us 

Immediately I can feel the chakra start to slip away but I keep pushing it through as I start to pick up Norio's head, ignoring the pain in my hand

"please don't be dead Norio. please" My breathing starts to get uneven and rushed as I run my hand over his and wrist trying to find a heartbeat "NORIO" I shout as I start to shake dammit why cant I find his heartbeat  I press my hands against the wound again trying to channel some chakra through there to help patch things up 

The man and woman have tried out some attacks against the shield between them doing that and me trying to heal Norio I wont be able to keep this up for long  I hope help comes soon or we both are gonna die, Ronin where are you? 

my arms start to shake as I keep pushing chakra through them the wound looks a lot better now, the bleeding stopped, I'm running out of time and chakra

time to do this the old fashioned way 

I shift myself so I am crouching next to Norio's chest and I take a deep breath to steady myself, I put my wounded hand on top of my good hand and start pressing down hard in even and deep thrusts on his chest, after thirty thrusts I take another breath and put my mouth to his, tilting up his chin and pinching close his mouth , just the way they showed us in our basic training 

I steadily push out the air into his mouth and out of the corner of my eye I see his chest rise and fall, I do it again and then start the pumping again 

I hear the other two as they halt their attacks on me and turn to face a new comer, I dont turn to see who it is though I just pray that I will be able to save Norio 

please Norio please be ok please come back I need you
