her body felt like ice in my arms, my hands shook as she exhaled
"SAYURI" I cry out, gently shaking her, one of my hands is pressing firmly against the stab wound in an attempt the staunch the flow
Sakura crawls over, "I can't save him" she sobbed, pressing her hands against Sayuri's side "but I'll be damned if she dies too" her face determined as she sets about carefully pulling the sword out of Sayuri and handing it to Shikamaru "get everyone on alert" she demands "I need a medic to extract the poison from the sword and get started on an antidote"
my eyes never leave Sayuri's face, I gently brush her hair back "it's going to be ok" I whisper "it's going to be ok"
Shikamaru must have moved quickly because within minutes the room is flooded with people, the ANBU sweep in and pick up the dead body of the murderer. Three medics rush in and surround the Hokage as Sakura updates them, her glowing hands never leaving Sayuri's side.
Akamaru whines behind me and rubs his snout against my cheek but I don't turn.
The cry of a man comes from the doorway, finally lifting my eyes from Sayuri I come to the face of Asuma.
He is on his knees, his arms limp at his side. his eyes look dark and his mouth is half open, choked on the broken cry.
Tears run down my face as I study the pain in his eyes, his father and his brothers daughter, who he considered like a daughter of his own were lying on the floor, dead or as good as.
I swallowed a sob and opened my mouth to say something but I could find no words...
More people crowded into the hall outside the door
"Let us in" shouted Norio
"Yeah what gives, what happened" asked Ino
"Is Sayuri alright?" questioned Ronin but they were all pushed away by the squads of ANBU that had been called in
I ignore them, I can only focus on Sayuri, her skin cold, her body limp, her eyes closed, my arms continued to shake as I cradle her body closer to my chest, careful not to move the area Sakura was working on
"I'm sorry Sayuri" I whisper in a sob as another tear runs down my cheek and lands on her bloody arm "I should've protected you better, I should've stayed with you"
her reddish-brown hair fell around my fingers, her hair looked so pretty, no matter how she wore it, in a cute bun, letting her waves cascade down her shoulders, in a ponytail that swished around as she evaded attacks or in a braid that flopped against her back as she ran
her smile was beautiful too I stared at her thin pink lips she always looked so beautiful while laughing or greeting someone. she also looked really cute blushing, she blushed when I gave her my jacket and a few times after that, I wonder if she feels the same about me as I do her...or if she was just being nice
I pick up her hand from where it had fallen by her side and hold it tightly in mine I think I loved her...she made me feel these little butterflies that would erupt in me every time she smiled at me or said something cute. I wish...I wish I came with her, I would've been able to take the blade instead of her, then she would be here instead...I just wanted to protect her
"Kiba" says Sakura sternly, I shake my head to clear out my thoughts and listen to her, "we have to take Sayuri away, there's nothing we can do for her here, you have to let go"
I nod, slowly releasing Sayuri from my arms. I hadn't even realized how tightly I was holding her.
Her limp body is picked up by another and they jump off, the last thing I see is her hair, flowing slightly with the speed.
