I crouch next to Kiba and my uncles father in law, whos name I learned to be Ren. 

Kiba's warmth radiates onto me as we peer through the thick foliage onto the mountain base we suspect Uncle Akida is being held in. 

Kiba and I had been with the Forest nin for almost 2 weeks before tracking him down, thanks to Kiba and Akamaru. 

Ren speaks up quietly over the small radios each nin was equipped with, "we watch for a few more minutes, hopefully Aoki and Hayashi will have a plan by then."

Kiba relaxes slightly and shifts his fingers over my cold hand "cold?" he smirks 

I shrug in my jacket "I thought it'd be warmer, too bad Akamaru is down there" I smile and look down at the bottom of the tree where Akamaru stands guard. 

Kiba wraps and arm around my waist and pulls me closer as we continue to wait for the plan. the cold morning dew rests on leaves around us. 

I wont ignore the way Kiba and I have gotten closer these past two weeks. We seem to touch more physically and I've oticed him relaxing more around me, but just when its us, when we get meals with the rest of the forest nin his guard goes back up. 

We are in the middle of a mission and its hard to think of relationships and how we are progressing, I know we've gone on about 2 dates and we seem comfrtable with each other but part of me is wondering, how much longer until something else happens?

"Alright, heres the plan. listen up" Aoki speaks over the comms "Wantanabe, you'll go with Ren. Inuzuka and Hayashi, you will follow with our backup team." Aoki was an old fashioned man, using family names instead of the first names. 

Kiba clicks his comm "why am I not going with Wantanabe?" he questioned

The radio buzzed before Ren's voice ame through "Cause I have a chakra tracking techique and Wantanabe has the same chakra I need to track, anyone going with us would pull away from that and make it harder to find her uncle"

Kiba doesnt look satisfied with the answer until I give his hand a tight squeeze "alright then"

We hop out of the tree to report to our meet up spots and Kiba's hand caredfully grasps mine, turning me towards his worried face. 

"Sayuri-" he starts 

"It'll be fine Kiba" I run my hand through his hair "We'll get him and then we can go home"

"Be careful" He continues"I dont trust Ren"

"He's family" I pause "but I'll be careful" I nod 

Kiba's hand rests on my cheek "once we're done we can go get some ramen m'kay?" I ask, trying to get the worried look of his face 

He nods slowly, "I can't-" he whispers "I can't lose you again" 

His broken voice hits me like a tidal wave as the events of the Chunin exam begin the drown my mind in darkness. 

I grab the collar of his jacket and pull his face to mine "you won't" I whisper and press my lips firmly against his. 

He kisses back just as eagerly and we pull apart breathless "I love you Sayuri" he whispers as our foreheads lean agaisnt each other "come back safe"

"I Love you too Kiba" and with that I press another kiss to his lips before turning and running to the meet up point.

Ren had scouted a back entrance into the caverns. Him and I run along until he holds up his hand for halt. I was still smiling gidly from my kiss with Kiba but I had hoped the darkness hid my blush. 

He begins to slowly move ahead he must've activated his chakra detection

"so" he asks quietly " I hear you discovered a different chakra source in you" 

I was startled he knew but I had written to Uncle Akida about it a few weeks ago, maybe he heard from him. 

"yes sir" I follow silently behind him, inspecting the shadow on the cavern ceiling, the flames from nearby torches reflected dancing shadows above us "my clan has a unique chakra nature especially for our shield.it took me a while to find it but its pretty strong."

"And you're the only one from the Leaf Village who posseses this chakra" 

I nod, still studying the shadows "Yes, Uncle Akida and I are the only living members of the Wantanabe clan who have it, excet maybe his children" I draw my eyes away from the shadows and look at him "Are they starting to show any signs? Uncle Akida said my mom made her first sheild when she was 9, thats close the the age the twins are"

He halts, looking down "I woudlnt know, I havent heard from my daughter in weeks"

I stop beside him "why is that?" 

He chuckles then looks me in the eye "Usually you dont send letters to the person who kidnapped your husband and is currently hunting your children"

I gasp and stagger in shock "what?"

He laughs again and I hear a kunai being drawn, except from above me those weren't shadows....

I unleash a spray of shuriken into the air and hear the satisfying slashes as they imbed themselves into a body. 

Just as I was reaching for my Kunai a body lands on mine, knocking me to the ground and twisting my arms behind me 

I grunt in pain as I attempt to role over

Ren laughs again "And here I thought you would be harder to catch"

"You bastard" I yell through gritted teeth, tears stinging my eyes from the way my arms were bent 

"the other ambush team?" Ren questioned the man beside him 

"Should be right-" the man looks at a timer "now" shouts echo from further down the tunnel, closer to the entrance 

"KIBA" I shout, tugging agaisnt the person on my back 

I hear his faint shout "SAYURI" he was too far away 

Another figure comes out of the shadows, and another, till there are about 20 in all. The first man nods to Ren. "The charges are set sir, this whole mountain will go down"

I gasp no...

The person on my back slams by head into the ground, I can feel the blood trickling down my lips.

Kiba shouts again, closer this time 

Ren chuckles "why dont you call him over here sweetheart? The boys can have some fun before we blow this mountain"

I sigh in defeat. If Kiba came it would be 20 against 2 and my arms are most likely broken, there would be no way.

Ren watches me "thought better huh?" he nods to the other man "blow it"

The man flicks the button open and the other nin begin to take off in the other direction

I summon the biggest breath I could take with someone crunching my lungs "KIBA RUN" 

The button is hit, the rocks begin the slide, my head collides with someones knee and the last thing I remember is Kiba screaming my name.
