"How'd you think you did on your final?" Aries asks as she closes her locker.
Melanie sighs happily. "Really well, actually." It's been nearly a month and a half since her kiss with Michael, and luckily nothing had become awkward between the two friends. It was a fluke, in-the-moment type of thing that, luckily, had no spark on either side. "Summer's almost here. I really think it's going to be the breath of fresh air I need, ya know?"
Aries smiles. "As long as you don't forget about us, I fully support that breath."
The two begin walking down the hall toward the cafeteria. "So, how are you and Luke doing?"
Aries and Luke had a relationship that hadn't blinded their friendship. They were best friends who just happened to like each other a lot. Melanie was longing for a relationship like theirs. "Really well, actually."
"'Actually'?" Melanie laughs. "You say that like I doubted you."
Aries exhales loudly and stares straight ahead as they continue to walk. "He told me he loves me."
Melanie breaks out into a grin. "Really? Oh, God, please tell me you said it back."
Aries nods. "I did."
"Good for you!" Melanie smiles as they walk through the doors. "Make sure you invite me to the wedding?"
"Oh, shut up." Aries instinctly takes her seat next to Luke and gives him a quick peck against his cheek. Melanie sits next to Michael and smiles at him.
"What, I don't get a kiss?" He jokes.
The girl rolls her eyes. "Don't push it, Clifford."
He pouts. "I was just kidding, Mel," he places his phone on the table. "Any big plans for the break?"
Melanie shakes her head. "Not unless you count sitting in my bed eating and watching Netflix."
"I feel you."
"I heard Mackenzie wanted to take Calum on a roadtrip, but he had plans with you," Michael shakes his head, dumbfounded at what Melanie is saying. "Lying to his girlfriend? That's a new low for him. He keeps this up and before you know it, he'll be stuck in a web of them."
Ashton sits on the other side of Melanie and slings his arm around her shoulders. "We've got two more days left of school. After that and summer, we'll be in our final year."
"Yeah, but you and Michael have to go back earlier for football practice." Aries points out.
"Don't remind me." Michael groans as he rests his head in the palms of his hands, covering his face.
"Look what you did, Aries. He doesn't have to go back for nearly three months and you already have him upset." Ashton notes.
"We should all do something really fun." Suggests Luke, who's been quiet all afternoon. As a result of taking his last final exam earlier that morning, he's been extremely tired.
"What do you have in mind?" The redhead of the group inquires.
"A roadtrip, Melanie already said it."
"Actually," the mentioned girl begins. "I was talking about Calum, not us. Besides why would we waste our whole summerr on the road?"
Luke shrugs. "Why not?" Melanie sighs defeatedly, and Luke smiles. "Looks like it's settled."
