"Ultron knows we're coming.
"Odds are we'll be riding into heavy fire, and that's what we signed up for.
"But the people of Sokovia, they didn't. So our priority is getting them out."
It was time to pull out the Mind Stone. On the way to Sokovia, Thor and I were deep in a lengthy discussion while I trained Wanda as best I could in the flight. Thor agreed that I should keep the stones where they were in my body if I could control them.
My cloud swirled around the first watching I received and yellow and purple swirled through the east side of the city and red swirled through the west. Wanda and I stood back to back, energy in the air.
"All they want is to live their lives in peace, and that's not going to happen today.
"But we can do our best to protect them.
"And we can get the job done, and find out what Ultron's been building.
"We find Romanoff, and we clear the field."
Dad was going to find Natasha. He insisted and we dropped him off at the Hydra base on the edge of the city. I hugged him as tightly as I could. "Be careful, Dad."
He gripped me tightly, his fingers gripping my back. "I will. I promise."
"I love you, Dad."
"I love you, Li Anne," He answered, holding me out at arms length.
I smiled. "You could have just said 'I love you too'."
Dad looked me straight in the face, staring into my eye intensely. "If I had said that, I would have said that I love you, on top of you loving me. I love you for you, not just because you love me."
I burst into tears and hugged him again.
"Banner, time to move out," Steve said from the door of the jet.
Dad waved to me as he stepped out. Steve took my hand and Wanda leaned her head on my shoulder. "He'll be ok."
"Keep the fight between us.
"Ultron thinks we're monsters and we're what's wrong with the world.
"This isn't just about beating him. It's about whether he's right."
"Li Anne," Wanda said, breaking my reverie. "The city is taking fire, we have to get them out faster."
Our clouds' power broke off and the people woke up to fire raining at them from Ultron's bots. I made a shield to block as many as I could. "Wanda, you're going to have to make a shield!"
She tried, cloud bursting from her fingertips but it didn't form what she wanted. "I can't!"
"Then get the people off the bridge!"
Steve was running, holding a woman's hand, her baby in the crook of his arm. He thrust the baby back into her arms. "Go!"
"Get off the bridge! Run!" Wanda yelled.
My arms were shaking with the effort to keep the shield up. The people finally drained from the bridge and I let down the shield, knocking down five of the bots.
Under our feet, the ground started to shake. It was just me, Wanda had moved to the edge of the city and Steve was near the church, in case Tony needed backup.
