So I packed up a bunch of sweaters, sweatpants, and warm socks, shoved some of Danny's clothes into a bag, struggled to fit the car seat into my new/old Prius and headed for the Compound.

I buzzed in my code at the gate, trying to get Danny to stop weeping in the back seat by handing him another toy, and drove up the my old home. Natasha was waiting for me out front and I practically feel into her arms when I stumbled out of the car.

"Where's the kid?" She asked after I detached myself from her.

I pointed to back. Natasha reached in and pulled out my wailing son.

"Oh, poor baby," she crooned. "Did the poor baby have to stay in the long car ride?"

Danny lifted up his arms and she picked him up. "Anny Nat!"

I sighed and leaned against a pole, my head in my hands.

"It's ok, Annie." Natasha and I headed inside.

A horrible smell was permeating in the living quarters.

All three of us began choking.

"What is that?" I asked, my eye streaming.

"Oh crap!" Nat ran over to the oven and began punching buttons. "My pie!"

"You were baking a pie?"

She turned around. "Yeah, I was baking a pie for Thanksgiving but it burned."

We opened all of the windows and I set Danny up at the table with some crayons. "How about I cook?"

"Would you? I was kind of hoping you'd offer but I didn't want to make you feel like you had to."

I smiled. "It's fine, Nat. I haven't cooked anything in so long. Can I look at the pantry?"

"Thanksgiving is in four days."

"Yes but I had pizza last night and Chinese the night before that so I'm going to make something."
