A loud cry pierced through my dream and I stirred in bed.
"Don't get up, doll. I got him," Bucky grunted.
I mumbled my thanks and settled back onto my pillow, listening to Bucky stumble in the dark, pushing the microwave buttons and making his way to Danny's room. Ever since his son had come into the world a month ago, Bucky had doted on Danny, they were almost inseparable.
Danny was tiny and Buck loved to talk to him, read to him, and sing to him all the time. I hadn't gone back to work yet and I was talking to Shuri about joining Bucky in the village. November was settling in and the villagers were getting ready for the rest of the rainy season.
GiGi and Xander couldn't stay long in Wakanda when Danny was born because they had left Jessica with the Bartons and didn't want her to be a burden. Wanda went home too, after staying for a week. Visitors were about to swarm our tiny apartment because our baby had hit the one month mark. In fact, Bucky and I were making a trek to New York City by portal to visit Peter, May, and Tony and Pepper(who had just gotten married). While we were gone, Nat, Steve, and Sam were going to hang out in our apartment, showering, eating, and resting.
Bucky returned to the bed and snuggled up next to me. "Our son is cute."
I grinned in the dark room. "He is."
"He smiled at me. With his little baby smile."
I let out a muffled giggle. "You both are cute."
"Are you excited to go to the city?" Bucky asked.
I sighed. "I am. Seeing Peter and May will be great but I'm not sure how it will turn out with Tony and Pepper."
"You know, I can always hangout elsewhere while you show them Danny."
"No, you are my husband and we will both go or neither of us will go."
Six hours later, we were ready to go. I was wearing a purple gingham skirt and a West Coast California shirt, at Bucky's request. My hair was wavy, the blonde mixing with my long black roots at just below to ears, and it had reached the middle of my chest in length.
In order to keep with our disguise, I used an illusion to recreate Bucky's arm. He was wearing a plain blue shirt(it brought out his eyes) with grey jeans and a dark jacket. Plus a baseball cap for extra protection.
Danny was the cutest of us all and was wearing a green and white striped onesie with a blue dinosaur on it. His eyes were staying at the green he had been born with and besides that and his hair, he looked just like his dad. But he possessed the same quiet nature but loud spirit that both me and his father had.
I had him in my infant sling that nestled him against my chest, letting me breath in his baby smell. Bucky took my hand and I led him through the portal. To be safe, we were right outside Peter and May's apartment. Bucky took a deep breath and knocked on the door while I cradled Danny's weight in the sling.
The door opened to reveal May, who covered her mouth with her hands when she saw us. Peter was right behind her and he moved to give me a side hug and shake Bucky's hand while May recovered.
We were led into the living room, Peter was sitting next to me and Bucky sat with May. Immediately, we started passing Danny like a hot potato, first to May.
"He has your eyes, sweetie," she cooed as Danny blinked his infant eyes up at her.
I smiled and Bucky reached over to squeeze my hand. "In my birth father's line, every Taylor kid has had those eyes."
"And you named him after your brother?"
"Yes."
"Do they look similar?"
