My heart was pumping, the beat brushing against my chest and fluttering in my stomach. GiGi was squeezing my left hand tightly, Wanda had my right. Our hair blew gently in the breeze that danced through the trees.
Everyone was grouped around one shady tree, with a space between forming two groups and a makeshift aisle in the middle. Steve was waiting for me where they couldn't see either of us.
Wanda, GiGi, and Nat made their way down the aisle to their places at the front.
Steve offered me his arm and I grasped it, my hands slightly clammy. "Are you ready?"
"I've been ready for a long time. But I'm still nervous."
He chuckled. "I think Buck's been waiting for you his entire life. He has never been serious about anyone before."
We began our walk down the aisle.
My dress was beginning to suffocate me as Steve and I made our way down. It might have been semi-stolen from a store in New York but it was totally worth it. On top was very traditional white with a v neck and a small open back. As you looked down the dress, purple was playing an ombre effect from my knee caps down. Nat had found it and announced it perfect. Now I knew it was.
All eyes were on me but my eyes were on Bucky. He was wearing short sleeve dress shirt a grey vest and this magical, starry, fairytale look on his face that I was pretty sure was mirrored on my own.
At the front, Steve handed me over to Bucky. He took my hand and we took several steps forward towards the priest.
He motioned for us to kneel. Bucky helped me down onto the cushion and we knelt together, my head leaning on his shoulder, breathing in his scent.
Bucky recited his vows, staring deep into my eyes. A tears rolled down my cheek quickly but I didn't brush it away. Nothing else was in my mind except how much I loved this man.
Then it was my turn.
"I didn't fall in love with you.
I walked into love with you
with my eyes wide open,
choosing to take
every step along the way.
I do believe in fate and destiny,
But I also believe
we are only fated
to do things
that we'd do anyway.
And I'd choose you;
in a hundred lifetimes,
in a hundred worlds,
in any version of reality,
I'd find you
and I'd choose you.
I promise to love, cherish,
honor, and respect you
until this life is over.
Then I will find you.
