~ Safeguard ~

My eyes fluttered open in response to the morning light shining into my room. I was directly facing the window so it took a while to get used to the harshness of the light. Once I was fully awake, I tried to turn over in the bed but something was preventing me from moving.

I looked down to see what was hindering my movements and noticed the smooth muscular skin of Wyatt's arm draped over me. I smiled to myself as I grazed my hand over his arm noticing how amazing I slept last night with him here.

Gently I lifted up his arm so I could slip out of the bed without disturbing him. I quietly made my way around the bed as I walked towards the bathroom. I shut the bathroom door so any noise I made wouldn't disturb him.

As I was getting ready for the day, I recalled my conversation with Wyatt last night. He was so understanding and even after my irrational behavior the other night, Wyatt still was there for me regardless.

I brushed my hair and let it flow over my shoulders before exiting the bathroom. Wyatt was still sleeping in my bed and I smiled as I made my way towards him. I sat down on the edge of the bed and gently rubbed my hand against his back.  He was lying on his stomach and the sheets were barely covering his perfect frame.

I leaned down and kissed the top of his shoulder before getting off the bed.  I didn't want to wake him up so I made my way downstairs to make us some breakfast.

I opened the refrigerator and noticed the lack of groceries inside. Alex and I should probably make a run to the store soon before we starve to death.

I picked up the egg carton and placed it on the counter. I got myself a bowl and cracked a few eggs into it before adding the other ingredients. I whisked the eggs together and reached for a pan to cook them in.

Once the pan was hot enough, I poured in the eggs and stirred them around with the spatula. As I cooked the eggs, I realized that my mood was completely different from how I was feeling a few days ago. If Wyatt wouldn't have agreed to come over last night, I would probably still be laying in my bed miserable and alone.

I continued cooking the food lost in thought when I felt a pair of hands place themselves on my hips.  I turned my head to the side and saw Wyatt standing close behind me.

"Morning," I said leaning my back into his chest.

"Morning, beautiful," he replied as he rested his chin on my shoulder.

"All we have are eggs for breakfast so I hope you're okay with that," I said as the eggs started to scramble.

"Eggs are good for protein which you're going to need today," he said moving back to allow me to finish cooking. I scooped the eggs on the plates and got out two forks. I handed Wyatt his plate and he gladly took the dish from me.

"Why do I need protein for today?" I asked as we walked towards the kitchen table.

"You'll see later on," he replied taking a bite of the food.

Whenever Wyatt plans something, he never tells me what he's up to.  It's cute that he always tries to surprise me but I'm impatient when it comes to surprises.

We finished eating and Wyatt helped me with the dishes, well more like distracted me while I was trying to do the dishes but I wasn't complaining.

We went back upstairs to get dressed and Wyatt put on his clothes from last night back on.

"Can you at least tell me what to wear," I said wanting to be dressed appropriately.

"Comfortable gym attire," he responded while pulling his shirt over his head. He ran his hand through his hair to tame the few pieces that fell against his forehead.
