~ The Birthday Party~
Lindsey's birthday party was tonight and I couldn't be more excited to celebrate her birthday with everyone. Lindsey was such an amazing person and she deserves nothing but the best.
Before Alex left to go back home for the weekend, we went shopping for Lindsey's birthday present. We went to an extravagant boutique and split the cost on a beautiful pair of earrings that we knew Lindsey would love.
I had just finished wrapping her gift and signing the card when my phone started to ring.
I grabbed my phone from off the table and my heart fluttered when I saw Wyatt's name appear across the screen. I haven't talked to Wyatt very much and the little that we have talked, I have been short with my responses.
It made me feel a little guilty that I was being that way towards him but I was still trying to process the confusing emotions I was conflicted with.
I took a deep breath before answering the phone and putting it against my ear.
"Hello," I quietly said into the phone.
"Hello beautiful, I've missed hearing your voice," Wyatt replied.
"I'm sorry, I've just had a lot going on," I said feeling like an idiot since I'm basically free all summer besides going to work.
"Is everything okay?" He asked sounding concerned.
Damn it, I was hoping he wouldn't ask me that. I didn't want to lie to him but I also wanted to talk about the situation in person and not over the phone.
"Yes, everything is fine," I responded trying my best to pull myself together.
"Good I'm glad. I was calling you because I wanted to see if you wanted to ride with me to my parents tonight for Lindsey's party?"
I would be lying if I said I didn't miss spending time with him since I have been avoiding him lately and I was already going to see him at the party anyway. I decided that riding with Wyatt wouldn't be the worse idea and maybe I could calmly ask him why people keep saying he's so dangerous.
"I would love to," I said knowing deep down I really did.
"I'll pick you up tonight then. I will let you know when I'm leaving my place," he replied.
"Okay, I'll see you later," I said plopping down on the couch.
"I love you," he said into the phone and that was all it took to make the tears I was holding back descend down my cheeks.
"I love you too," I replied choking back the tears before I hung up the phone.
I quickly pressed the end button and threw my phone down next to me before letting the emotions fully consume me once again. I felt like a child throwing a tantrum when they don't get their way but having people tell you the person you love is dangerous, isn't something that goes unnoticed.
I sat there on the couch wallowing in self-pity before I decided that I needed to start getting ready.
Getting off the couch, I made my way upstairs to the bathroom because a hot shower was exactly what I needed right now. I turned the water on and waited for it to heat up before stepping into the shower allowing my body to be consumed in the hot stream as it soaked my skin.
I stayed there under the water for several minutes before I washed my hair and continued my routine in the shower.
Once I got out of the shower, I wrapped my hair in a towel and put on an oversized shirt and a pair of panties.
