~ Fight Night ~
Saturday...today was Saturday, the day we have all been dreading. Waking up today was like waking up from an agonizing nightmare that was never-ending. God how much I wished this day would have never approached but to my dismay, it came quicker than I had anticipated.
I told Wyatt and Cole that I would meet them at the gym a few hours before the fight. Wyatt last night tried to convince me to stay home and keep as far away from the gym, but there was no way I was going to miss this. I know my presence tonight wasn't important but I needed to be there to support Wyatt.
Alex had asked what my plans were for tonight but I didn't want to drag her into this. Her life was going too smoothly for her and I didn't want to add any worry or concern right now. I could barely get myself to eat all day but I forced myself to eat a small bowl of cereal.
Before I knew it, the time was quickly approaching when I said I would be at the gym. I went upstairs to get dressed and to prepare myself for the unpredicted night ahead. I said a silent pray while grabbing my purse and keys before heading out the door.
A few minutes later, I pulled into the parking lot of the desolate gym. There weren't many cars around and I was hoping that not a lot of people knew about the fight tonight. I dreadfully got out of my car and made my way into the gym. There were only a few lights turned on and I didn't see anybody when I walked in.
"They're in the back," I heard somebody say as they approached from the corner of the gym where Wyatt had taught me self-defense a few days ago.
I squinted my eyes to make out who it was and I noticed it was the older man that was helping Wyatt prepare for tonight.
"Thank you," I said as he pointed towards a door to the far right of the gym.
"He's going to be fine, there is no need to worry," he said stopping a few feet in front of me.
"For his sake, I hope you're right," I weakly smiled before turning to walk towards the door.
I opened the heavy metal door and jumped when it slammed behind me. I made my way down the long dark hallway as I noticed a light coming from a room to the left and when I walked into the room, I noticed Wyatt and Cole sitting down at a table deep in conversation.
I faintly knocked on the door and they both turned their heads to see who had knocked. They both relaxed when they noticed it was me and Cole motioned for me to come into the room.
"Do you want me to leave while you all talk?" I asked taking a few steps into the room.
"It's okay, you can come in," Wyatt said standing up from the chair. He walked over towards me and pulled me into a tight hug. I wrapped my arms around him and relaxed into his warm embrace.
He kissed the top of my head before releasing me a little too soon as he grabbed my hand and led me towards the table.
"We were just talking about what was going to happen once the fight is over," Cole said as I stood next to them.
"What did you all come up with?" I asked as I looked up at Cole.
Cole looked to Wyatt like he was asking for permission to tell me about what they had been discussing. From the look on both their faces, I could tell they were both conflicted and confused.
"If, I lose tonight," Wyatt started while leaning against the table as he stood in front of me.
"Cole is going to take you far from here and hide you. I don't care if they drag me back to Italy after the fight but there is no way I'm going to let them take you," he said crossing his arms over his chest.
