~ The Anniversary Party ~

My life lately consisted of going to work, coming home to eat and sleep, and then doing it all over again. I guess I should be use to the mundane life I have since I don't really go out to do anything exciting anyway.

Lindsey has made working at the coffee shop semi tolerable now. The past few weeks Lindsey and I have gotten to know each other further and I'm glad she decided to apply for a job here. She is an outgoing person with an addictive personality and I can definitely see us becoming close friends.

"Davina, do you have any plans for Friday night?" Lindsey asked while filling the napkin holders that were running low.

"I don't have any plans as of right now," I replied remembering that I rarely have plans on the weekends anyway.

"Perfect! My parents are having their three year anniversary party and they told me to invite a few people. I figured I would invite you since we have become friends over the last few weeks," she smiled while placing the holder back on the table.

"Are you sure? I wouldn't want to crash your family event."

"Nonsense, I want you to come and you can invite Alex too," she added. She met Alex a few days ago when Alex stopped by to get my key to the apartment since she managed to lock hers inside.

"Alex never says no to a party so you can count us in."

"Awesome, I will text you the address Saturday morning. The party is at my parent's house so a casual dress will do."

"Umm, should I get your parents an anniversary gift?" I asked not wanting to be rude and show up empty handed to their anniversary party.

"No, you don't have to do that. My step dad treats my mom like a queen so they always say they don't need any other gifts but each other," Lindsey said smiling as she finished speaking.

I too smiled at Lindsey's comment. I don't get to see my parents often since I moved away for college, so it was pleasing to see Lindsey happy for her mom.

After work was over, I headed home to tell Alex about the party Saturday night. Alex will go to any party you invite her to regardless of the type of party. A homeless person holding a party for a bunch of stray cats, consider Alex attending.

I walked into the apartment and was greeted with the aroma of food. Alex was in the kitchen with the counter overloaded with Chinese take out boxes.

"Hey how was work?  Also, I picked up take out because I didn't feel like cooking dinner," Alex said while passing me a plate.

"Work was good. Lindsey invited us to her parent's anniversary party Saturday night," I said giving Alex a side hug thanking her for the food.

"I like Lindsey so we should go," she said taking a bite out of her egg roll.

"I told her we would be going," I said walking towards the kitchen table.

"I can't wait then," Alex said clapping her hands together before continuing to eat her dinner.

....

It was now Saturday evening, and Alex and I started getting ready for the party tonight. I know it's just an anniversary party for two people I've never met before but I'm kind of excited to go. It gives me something to do other than sitting in the apartment all day watching TV shows.

"Vina, should I wear a dress to the party?" Alex called from her bedroom.

"Yes, Lindsey said a casual dress would be appropriate," I said while looking through my closet to try and find a dress myself.
