~ Showcase at the Art Gallery ~
It was the day after I had professed my commitment to Wyatt. Last night was definitely not how I expected the night to go but I'm glad it ended the way it did. I told Wyatt that he could have me to himself and he promised the same in return.
I smiled remembering the affectionate words Wyatt said to me and I knew it wasn't easy for him to do. Wyatt and I being together was different for both of us since we challenged each other in new and different ways.
It was midday and Lindsey and I had barely survived the frantic rush of costumers. One downside about the location of the coffee shop was that it was right in the center of overpopulated businesses with employees that required a major coffee high.
"I have never seen so many people so distressed for their fourth cup of coffee for the day," Lindsey sighed as she rested her back against the counter.
"That's what working in the real world does to you I suppose," I said resting my head in my hands as I leaned on the counter next to Lindsey.
As Lindsey and I tried to recover from the madness, the front door to the coffee shop opened.
Lindsey and I both huffed in annoyance wondering who else could possibly need coffee after it seemed like everybody in the city had just bombarded the shop.
I removed my hands from my face as Lindsey turned around to see who was approaching.
Lindsey and I both noticed Wyatt leisurely making his way towards us as he removed his sunglasses.
"Damn, you two look like hell," he joked as he stopped in front of the counter taking in our worn-out appearance.
"Hmm, so you're saying that I look like you on a daily basis," Lindsey said laughing at Wyatt's unpleased expression from her remark.
"Be nice, Lindsey. Wyatt wishes he could look like us even on our worse days," I replied joining in mocking Wyatt. Even though I was joking, the look on his face was priceless.
"You two got jokes today, huh?" He jeered while glaring at both Lindsey and I.
"No, I think we're just delirious from rush hour," Lindsey replied.
"Anyway, I came to ask you something," Wyatt said turning his attention towards me.
"And that's my cue to leave. I'll be in the back, call me if you need anything," Lindsey said turning to disappear in the back.
"What is it that you came to ask me?" I asked leaning my arms against the counter while peering up at Wyatt.
"Do you remember the art gallery I took you to for our first date?" He asked me while playing with my fingers as I stared at him.
"Yeah, how could I forget? That place was amazing."
"Well, tonight they are having a special showcase to show off some new pieces of work and Mr. Hixon invited the two of us to go," he replied licking his lips once he was done speaking.
"Oh my gosh, really? I would love to go," I exclaimed smiling in excitement.
"I thought you would," he chuckled at my reaction.
"I get off at five so I hope that's not too late" I replied watching as he still fiddled with my fingers.
"That's plenty of time. The showcase doesn't start until eight," he said.
"Perfect sounds like it's a date then," I replied blushing when I realized I used the word 'date'.
"I'll pick you up tonight around 7:30," he said removing his hand from mine.
