nine: Mahogany Moon

Aden ran with all his might and speed in the fear of losing her. Once in his pack lands, he mind linked Collen, Daniel, and the Pack Doctor to meet him in his house. He just found her, he couldn't lose her. After three months of waiting for her and watching her from a distance, to keep her safe, he lets a rotten rogue get to her.

The rogue was so sick he didn't even smell the Alpha smell off of Aden but managed to smell Aden's scent on Charlotte Rae. The sick wolf crawled up her legs and arms, leaving opened wounds to let her bleed out, but he never bit her which was odd to Aden.

"I'm here," the pack doctor yelled. Aden ran over to the doctor and pulled him towards the couch, where Charlotte Rae laid, unconscious. "What happened? You've brought me for a human?"

Aden ran a hand through his soft curls, "you are not allowed to speak of this until I announce it, but she is my mate and going to be your Luna. But a rogue attacked her, randomly. The sick bastard ran past me and went straight to her."

"Did it bite her?' the doctor asked while examining her body.

"No, just clawed at her like a toy," Aden grunted. A knock was heard on the front door and then was opened by Collen and Daniel, the Beta and Gamma's sons– next in line. Collen immediately knew who was on the couch and looked at Aden in fear, not knowing how Aden would react. Aden's mate was unconscious on his living room couch from rogue wounds. He was livid on the inside, his wolf going insane over the uncertainty of their mate's condition.

"Aden-" Daniel started but stopped once Collen gave him a look. Aden stood there in fear, one of the only things that could scare him was the thought of losing Charlotte.

"Aden, I'm going to need to take her to the medical building to keep her in one of our hospital rooms. Can you carefully take her there for an examination?" the doctor asks softly. Aden nods and picks her up, carefully.

My limbs felt like bags of sand. It smelt like hand sanitizer and... wet dogs? My eyes were glued shut, completely unable to open. Around me were all types of noises, beeping and hushed whispers, whining, and the occasional screaming.

Where was I?

I willed all my energy to open my eyes. The bright lights above me and the white walls around me had me disoriented. I looked around to see machines with numbers and then felt the presence on my legs and arms. I was covered in a blanket and had a tube coming out of my arm.

What happened?!

Slowly, my memories started to come back to me. The study date. The wolf. My keys. The other wolf. My arms and legs. I quickly looked around and looked at my limbs. I was now wearing shorts and a tank top, but could clearly see my body. I have white bandages wrapped around each leg and a large bandage on my right arm.

I was attacked by a wild animal and I lived. There was an IV attached to my arm and I slowly took it out and took off my heart rate reader. I didn't need it. As soon as I did it, the monitor flatlined, setting off an alarm, at the absence of a heartbeat.

Standing up, I walked over to the door and looked around. It didn't look like a hospital but I was in a medical room. Looking left and right, I decided to go by the huge window towards the right. The window had a view of the entire forest and looked beautiful. I stood in awe as I watched the beautiful sunrise over the trees and into the sky.

I heard footsteps running through the halls and looked over my shoulder to see a group of people running around. "Where's the Luna?" a voice yelled. Luna?

"Alpha is going to kill us if we lose her," someone else said. Alpha?

"Beta Collen, get Alpha Aden. We might have lost the Luna," a small voice worried.

Aden is here? Alpha? I turned away from the beautiful landscape to the desk where a small woman was typing away at a computer with a phone connected to her ear. I stood there for a little, while I waited for her to finish her call. Once she hung up her phone, she stood up and turned away from me, as if I wasn't there.

I furrowed my brows and cleared my throat softly, at this, her head shot up and looked at me. Her face hardened at the look of me in disgust, "yes?"

"Um," I cleared my throat again. My throat really hurt from all the screaming I did, "I heard you guys talk about Aden. Is he here?"

Her face dropped in shock and disapproval, "how dare you speak his name like that? With disrespect!" I opened and closed my mouth, disrespect? All I did was ask if he was there. She scoffed at me and shooed me away, "stupid girl, leave!"

I quickly turned around and scurried out of her way. I walked down the hallway, past my medical room, and towards the stairs. Walking this much hurt my legs and I could feel my wounds throbbing in pain. Deciding against going down the stairs, I sat in a chair near the windows.

After a small while of sitting by the window, I smelled the soft scent of burning wood and grass. I looked up to see Aden. "Hi," I whispered.

"Charlotte, how are you feeling?" he asks sitting next to me.

"I'm okay. Where am I?" I asked softly. "I tried asking the nurse at the desk, but she was a little mean," I laughed.

He furrowed his brows and looked over at the front desk. I heard a squeal and papers drop and looked back at Aden, "that nurse was just having a bad morning. You're in my... neighborhood."

I nodded, "What's it called?"

"Mahogany Moon," Aden smile proudly.

I smiled and tilted my head, it sounded familiar but I don't know why. "Cute," I laughed.

"Would you like to come to my house?" he asked.

"Sure, I'd love to," I nodded. I stood up and Aden looked me up and down. My cheeks burned in embarrassment as he checked me out.

"First, you need to change. I'll have someone grab some of my sister's old clothes and send them to your hospital room and then we'll go home," Aden walked over to me and grabbed my hand. A weird shock ran through my body and I snatched my hand away.

Aden's smile fell a little but kept his face neutral. I could tell by his eyes that I hurt his feelings by snatching my hand. "I- I'm sorry, yeah. Let's go," I apologize and softly grabbed his hand. This time, I expected the shock and his hand felt nice against mine.

"C'mon, I have so much to show you!"
