twenty-four: it's a girl?
After the witch situation on Tuesday, the last two days have been a little intense. Between her vague promise of return and the increase of rogue sightings, the pack has been uneasy. But today, the tension was worse. Tonight in the full moon.
Yesterday, I was force-fed almost ten pounds of food to "build up my strength" according to Aden. In between meals, Belle and Alice had me training with them, testing my fighting to, again, "build up my strength." But I don't think anyone really is focusing on one of the most important things, my mental strength.
Although I am confident in myself and the chances of me surviving this shift, I am absolutely terrified. The severity of this hit me after my shower, oddly enough. I had looked myself in the mirror and noticed my ribs popping out from under my skin. I have always been a thin person, especially when I was younger, going through a lot of mental obstacles, but the fact that I've missed so many meals in the last two weeks really showed on my body.
I broke down crying at the idea of not surviving. Aden had told me the statistic of the first shifts in humans, but my mind was elsewhere. Those memories came back and hit me like a truck. Belle ended up dressing me and then calling Aden to my room to comfort me. Once I calmed down, he explained the theoretical survival chance I had due to the Luna Power I possess and my competitive nature to win and succeed.
Now, today I was forced to wake up at the crack of dawn to prepare myself for tonight. Alice and Belle slammed open and door and jumped onto my bed to wake me up. Lovely.
"Charlotte, today is the day," Belle sang.
"Then we finally can have our girl time in the woods and run!" Alice squealed.
"'Fuck up," I mumbled.
"No, you have to get up! Aden said he wants you down for breakfast! And he has a special task for you to do today," Alice beamed.
"Shut the fuck up," I grumbled.
I heard someone sigh and then I screamed at the cold air that hit my body. Not only did one of them rip my blanket off, they opened the window, letting the cold December breeze come in. "Charlotte Rae, I will only tell you this once: WAKE THE FUCK UP," Belle yelled in my ear.
Impulsively, I grabbed her neck and sat up with full force. I felt my face hot and then I dropped my hand, "oh my god, I'm so sorry. What the fuck?"
Belle stumbled back and grabbed her neck, massaging it, "I- I'm sorry, Luna."
"No, no. Please don't call me that. I don't know what happened but I didn't mean to. I didn't even realize- Liabelle, I'm sorry," I pleaded. I looked over to Alice who stood back near the wall, "Alice, please. I didn't mean it.
"Your- your eyes, they changed?" Alice stuttered.
My eyes widened at her comment, "how is that possible? I'm still human- what is going on?"
"The full moon is powerful and the Luna power is also," Alice whispered. She looked at Belle, who had taken a seat on my ottoman, "and she disrespected you. You- your wolf didn't like that."
"I don't have one, I'm still human."
"I-I don't know, Lottie."
"I'm sorry," I whispered to them.
A loud scream echoed through the room. Any faster, I would have tripped over my feet. I followed the loud crying to the living room where I found a young boy cradling a sobbing infant. "What is going on here?" I asked quietly. The boy jumps at my voice, causing the infant to cry harder, "oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you and make the infant cry."
