twenty-seven: surprise!!
There is nothing scarier than being dead asleep and being woken up by a random hand. Not even my crazy sense of hearing could have prepared me for the fright of my life.
At the feeling of being touched, I instantly woke up and bared my canines. Bambi couldn't help being on high alert.
"Calm down, C, it's just me," Belle calls out.
I retract my teeth and calm down, "what the hell was that for?"
"Are you gonna sleep until noon?" she laughed. I looked over at the digital clock and groaned, it was almost noon which means I slept for almost seventeen hours.
"Bro, that hunt took out so much in me, I have no clue how to live," I complained.
"Well tell Bambi to help you find energy because I want to hang out with my best friend! I missed you yesterday, you never told me how it went. All I know is two boys came back with their tails between their legs and without their trophy," Belle mumbled.
"Let me take a shower and I'll tell you all about it," I compromised.
"Okay, but wear something nice. I want to take pictures!" Belle smiled widely and let herself out.
Getting out of bed, I stretched my limbs and made my way to the shower. I thoroughly washed my hair and bathed myself. I didn't want to leave the comfort of my room, so I didn't rush my routine. I made sure to get every tangle out of my hair and scrub my face until nice and clean.
The mood was so dull without music, so I went over to my forgotten phone and put on some music. I stopped short when I noticed the date was Sunday, December 6th: my birthday.
Anger raised in my chest. Belle didn't say happy birthday and neither did my dad. The two people who I know knows it's my birthday never said anything. At least my dad has an excuse, I'm MIA on vacation with Belle. Belle has no excuse.
Forgetting my long routine, I quickly dried my hair and put on a comfy outside. I decided on an oversized beige sweater and black leggings. Instead of wearing boots, I decided on moccasins, as I didn't plan on going outside in the snow. Throwing my hair in two dutch braids, I put on some mascara and chapstick.
I tried my best to calm down. I knew I was overreacting about Belle not saying anything to me. Even I forgot my own birthday. These last three weeks have been insane and have been hard to keep up with. There's a perfectly good reason for the fact that Belle forgot.
Taking one last look at myself, I made my way down the stairs and kept a smile on my face. Belle wanted me to meet her in the living room so we could take pictures and that's where I went. When I got to the living room, my face fell; it was empty. Where are you? I mind linked her.
No response. I huffed in annoyance and grabbed an apple off fruit bowl on the table. Biting into the apple, I smelled around for any signs of Aden or Belle, but I couldn't find any. The only thing I smelled was the soft scent of Aden, but that was because his room was upstairs.
Putting a light coat on, I made my way outside to see a few members walking around. They looked so busy, I felt bad that I slept in. Although it was a Sunday afternoon, no one really gets breaks around here.
I ran up to one of the members, "hello, have you seen the Alpha around here? Or even the Beta's mate?"
He looked nervous and wouldn't meet my eye, "uh, no, Luna." I sighed at his response and let him leave. I groaned and looked around the area, there was no one in sight. It seemed like a ghost town.
