"Frick, this is a huge mountain, Alpha. How are we going to get three packs over it?" Jennalyn mind-linked Isla.
"There must be another way. Quinn, what does your scouting group have to say?"
There was silence but then I heard him laugh, "There's a path! It's rocky and slippery, but it'll have to do!"
Isla howled, indicating for the others to follow her to the Beta's position. She knew West and Ryan already knew they were there. They were ready for any dang army they had planned. Dark magic or not, she would fight to get back her own mate and Mallory.
The wolves ran up it, some sliding down, their paws pounding against the dry crumbling dirt. Their yellow eyes were determined as they circled the large mansion, trying to find a way to get in. Isla narrowed her eyes, wondering why there were not any exterior guards outside. It was way too calm for her liking.
A brown wolf ran up to her and bowed her front. ¨Alpha Isla, my name is Rosaline. None of your council is at Spector Four, but there seems to be a swarm of bees of some sort? It is weakening the wolves though, especially Alpha Osmin and his Luna. You must come to look. I am not sure if it is serious but...¨ Isla nodded and followed her and her eyes grew wide.
A swarm of some type of insect was surrounding the wolves as they tried to snap and run away from it, but it kept pushing them together. Suddenly, they disappeared into thin air, only dust being left behind.
"Alpha did you see that?!" Jen yelled as did Quinn. The wolves started to back away, all of their voices ramming into Isla's mind making her cower in pain.
"Be quiet!" She yelled. "We'll fix this! Get back!"
Felicia whispered, "How are we...?"
She looked around because the door was obviously not an option. Looking up, she saw the curtain of the tower window move slightly. West. Isla knew he was watching her. Why couldn't he have the nerve to come down and face her himself.
"There's a low window on the northern side of the castle! Get everyone in there as fast as possible!" Quinn said quickly. She ran throughout the masses, staying behind so everyone wouldn't lose their way, and strays could be herded in.
As soon as the last one entered, Isla met up with her Delta and Beta. "The rest will be looking for Mallory, as instructed. We must go for the source of the insects which will be West and Ryan. We have to stop them before they devour anyone else of our packs." She said, hopping in.
They ran inside, completely surrounded by dark but thankfully their eyes were accumulated to it. Humans could do some things while wolves couldn't. Thankfully, they were both. She smelled the air and sighed. The familiar scent of cedar and sandalwood was mixed in along with a bunch of others but she was able to distinguish it.
"Up the stairs, quickly." Isla urged them as she ran towards the twirling flight of steps. The scent was getting stronger. "Olivia, tell me if any of those swarms come back and how much of our pack is left." She replied with a yes and we appeared right in front of a wooden doorway.
Isla looked up at the wooden door and her features furrowed. "Shift." The three shifted into their human forms and she put her hand on the door handle opening it with force. The two men were there, at the edge of the room next to a table with bottles upon bottles of different liquids.
They looked at the trio in silence, almost staring into their souls. Jennalyn wrapped her arms around herself, not liking being stared at her nakedness other than her own mate. West broke the silence by growling and narrowing his eyes at Quinn.
"Why the frick are you standing next to my naked mate?" He said, dangerously quiet. "You're my Beta."
Before Quinn could respond to his anger, Isla jumped in, yelling, "At least he stood by his oath and stayed by our pack!" She was angry that he said that. Angry that he left so she could clean up his mess, angry that he was working with dark magic. So, so, angry.
"You know why I left!" West yelled.
"No, I thought I had made it clear that I did not want to have dark magic in schools. I'm not having my family surrounded by it!"
"You--"
She started to move closer towards him, "When you marked me...your eyes turned red. I was scared. It, that, wasn't normal. Why was it like that? I'm just..scared." Isla admitted.
West's features softened and he bit his lip. That was just it. His own mate was terrified. He didn't see it because there was no communication. Maybe it was just best to--
Ryan growled. "NO, ALPHA. She's playing with your mind! Your mate is just a wench who is playing with Quinn! Even when you come back she won't understand your lifestyle! Let's just end her already!" His eyes turned yellow and he ran towards her, his hand becoming a bright red, as though it were on fire.
Isla closed her eyes, not ready for the impact, but a blinding white light blew throughout the castle, throwing everyone onto the ground. She groaned and rubbed her head, sitting up. Ryan was down, steam floating up. Thankfully, he was unconscious. "Olivia?! What happened?"
