We walked around, hand in hand, as I showed him the simple beauty of her abode. I turned to look at him and sure enough, Dion's outfit had changed. No longer was he in a shirt and pants, instead he had on somewhat medieval looking garments. He had on a black renaissance doublet on the outside but on the inside, Dion had a long sleeve linen shirt with blue flames embracing it that seemed to glow. Long black boots covered his feet.
"Every time I see you in that Moon Goddess outfit...why do you have to be so darn beautiful?" Dion asked, his eyes raking up and down my body.
A blush covered my cheeks and I turned away to avoid him from looking at my embarrassment. Didn't he know he was beyond hot as well? With the black hair and ice blue streaks running through it and his royal blue eyes made him swoon-worthy.
Without responding to his last comment I said, "Mother should be around. She barely leaves the house."
"Look." I turned to look at him and in his hand was a light blue flame, flickering back and forth. I stared at it in awe. It was so cool. "Down there I don't have powers. Here I can do pretty much anything."
"That's amazing. I haven't even learned how to change the moon yet. That's why it's been all cloudy..." I whispered.
Dion closed his hand and the flame disappeared. He put a hand on my shoulder. "Don't worry, as soon as this clears up, we'll get your father."
Suddenly my Mother emerged from the kitchen, her platinum blonde hair tied up into a bun. She had on a simple white gown, no other accessories on her. She smiled when she saw me but then her eyes grew wide at the sight of the man next to me.
"Oh my...Mallory, you didn't tell me you were coming with a guest..." She said in her calm voice while tucking a stray hair behind her ear. "A handsome one at that."
Dion bowed, one hand behind his back and one against his chest. "I'm sorry we haven't had a better meeting than now at a time like this. And please, I'm your son-in-law now. My name is Dion, a non-biological son of Hades. Please understand the fact that I am nothing like my father."
Mother laughed lightly, "Of course. I mean, Hades wouldn't act as chivalrous as you. Now, sit down, you two. Why have you come up so quickly again Mal?"
Taking a seat, I took a deep breath, knowing she would not like what I was about to say. "We're here to retrieve Dad."
She blinked, once, twice. "By retrieve, you mean...?"
"We're freeing him, only for a little bit. West will be using dark magic to look into his memories and claim one of them so we can free him for real." I explained.
The goddess stood up quickly. "No! Mallory, this is against all laws! He is in the highest of all prisons. Any type of magic you use will be detected and I can't have my whole family taken away from me! No, I won't allow you to do this."
"Please, Mother, this is the only way. All odds are against him, without this method there's no hope." I said, standing up as well and putting my arm on hers.
She shook her head and took multiple breaths. "I-I don't know. If this goes wrong you will be stuck up here for life to do your duty as Goddess. You will be forced to mate with Dion to get a daughter or son then both will be stripped away from you. Do you understand this?" She asked, her blue orbs boring into mine.
I knew the first part. However, I didn't know the second. Never seeing Dion or perhaps my future child again? Mother went through the pain of not being able to communicate with me but at least she could see me. Not even having that? I bit my lip. No, this was the time to do it. It would be for nothing if I didn't take this chance.
"We are going to do it. I understand the outcomes if we don't get this right, but I know we will."
Seeing my Mother fight off the urge to tell me what to do hurt my heart a bit. This was the only way. After hugging her tight, she transported us to the prison. Before I was able to walk in, Dion pulled me away for a second.
He took a deep breath, "Look, Hades is, was, considered a guard here before he became crazy. Technically, I'm still allowed to roam around. If someone suspects something, you hide and I'll avert them. Got it?"
I nodded and we walked in quietly. We followed the route to where I came before and found my father sitting on his large bed. I knocked the marble wall and the sound barely echoed but enough to get his attention.
"Mallory, you came back? So soon? Who's this?"
"Free now, introductions later," I said, pulling out two gloves. My dad inspected them as if they were some mysterious object. Sure, magic was, well, magic, but could they sustain these super high-latex gloves from earth?
Dion raised an eyebrow, "Really, Mal?"
I shrugged. "I'm gonna try a lot of things so hopefully one of them will work." Quickly, I placed my hands on the glowing bars then hissed in pain when it burned my fingers. I then pulled out a washcloth from my bag.
"Are you Mary Poppins?" He asked, looking at me in a monotone expression.
"You can never be too prepared!' I argued.
Dad suddenly laughed a deep chuckle. We looked at him in confusion. "Sorry, she's just so much like Selene. She would always carry around a big backpack filled with the craziest things."
Smiling, I put the washcloth on the cage and pulled it. The door suddenly fell towards me, making me smack my butt against the ground. It worked!
"But how...?" Dion questioned.
Smirking at him, Dad came out and hugged me. Having your dad wrap his arms around you for the first time filled me with extreme emotions. "That's my girl.." He whispered. I cried into his shoulder, finally being able to actually be with him.
"Let's go. West is waiting for us and there's not much time..." I said, pulling his hand.
