West's eyes grew yellow and he growled at her. "What on earth...was that..."
"Ryan did not tell her that, West." She seethed, angrily.
Now it was his turn to look at me. "I thought..." He trailed off.
I laughed quietly and waved my hands, brushing it away. "No, it's alright. I guess he may have just forgotten..or something...or it wasn't the right time. That's all!" Tears started to form on the corner of my eyes. Yeah, right. Ryan forgot? Lies.
I started to back away slowly, smiling. "I just...I have to go..." I quickly ran out before the tears started to fall on my face, ignoring the yells of my friends behind me. My feet took me towards the trail that ran through the woods, throughout the birch trees.
I cried, openly. No one could hear me from this distance from the pack anyway. It was alright. The last time I cried was when I found out Ryan was my mate. Now I was crying because he was my mate. It shouldn't be like this. If he knew about Dark Magic he could have just told me. Isla could have told me. Could anyone tell me?! But it wasn't like I was completely innocent. I kept quiet about Dion and the flames. Maybe...the bond wasn't just meant to be.
Crouching down, I hugged my knees as more tears started to spill. Warm arms pulled me back into their chest. I didn't smell anything, so I knew exactly who it was. "What are you doing here?" I sniffed. "It's all your fault."
"Is it? Is it really?" His husky voice whispered, making me shiver. I pulled away instantly, wanting not to screw up my relationship with Ryan more than it was.
Wiping my tears with the sleeve of my jacket, I nodded. "Yes. Because of you, I have to keep things from my mate. You're just...always in my head." I whispered running my hand through my blonde curls.
"Exactly. Keep that in mind, Agapiménos." Dion vanished and my eyes widened. Did he know? How? Only the fighters from the different packs knew. News from the valley never traveled elsewhere and I knew for certain he wasn't part of the valley.
I stomped my foot on the ground, sick of this. "MOTHER. If you are just there, answer me! You said you wouldn't leave me again! If I am really Meridin Ophelia Delia Larissa, the Second Moon of the Night, just talk to me!"
Silence.
Shaking off the tears, I shifted into my wolf, despite Clove's protests. We looked into the water again and were taken aback. Our coat was more droopy and seemed matted. What was worse though, was that my black fur from my paws was starting to climb up my leg, the beautiful silver, disappearing.
"Show Alpha Isla!"
"Show Jennalyn!"
We both quickly said at the same time. "Okay, we'll tell Alpha Isla. Maybe...Alpha West can help us..." Clove agreed.
"What?! No! We don't use Dark Magic, C!" She placed a mental block between me and her making me groan in her mind. I knew where she was going with this: If Ryan uses it then what's the harm? Ridiculous.
She started to run in the direction of the cabin, dashing up the stairs and pawing the door, fervently. Little feet scattered to the doorway and opened, showing Mila. The little girl tilted her head. For a second I thought she wouldn't recognize me, but her face broke out into a cheeky grin. "Aunt Mal!" Mila wrapped her little arms around Clove's big head and kissed it, making us both smile and C licked her face, making her giggle.
We walked inside as the girl showed us the way to where Alpha Isla was. She opened the door to Isla's room and Clove widened her eyes. There she was, curled up in a little ball, crying. She sat up and wiped her eyes. "What? Mila what are you..." Isla gasped. "Oh, Mal! I thought you were angry at us, at me, at West...I'm so sorry. I really thought Ryan would have told you.."
