"Mallory, darling, have you figured it out?" I could hear the enthusiasm and hope laced in her voice as my Mother tried to hide it.

Fiddling with my fingers, I shook my head. "No. That's sort of on pause for now. I wanted to discuss with you--woah, what are those?"

She walked in with a plate of some fluffy white round rings. "They're called Angel Halos. They're sort of like your doughnuts but way tastier. I thought you'd like to try some goddess treats." She winked.

I nodded quickly. I loved sweet things. Taking one, I bit into it. It was extremely gooey and soft and oh so delicious. "Oh my gosh, this is amazing." I moaned, taking two more.

Mother laughed and set the plate down on the little table in front of us. "You are just like me. So, what was it you wanted to talk about?"

I blinked with my mouth full of the yummy goodness and swallowed quickly. Right, we needed to do this now. "So, there were cases where mates rejected one another right....?"

She raised an eyebrow and folded her hands in her lap. "Yes, but it's a tremendous scar. Even if they are with someone they think they love, it will always hover over them like a big dark cloud."

"What do you think about Alpha Dyna, the one that rules over the Blood Rose Pack?"

Her eyes turned dark and her hands clenched. Okay, obviously she didn't like him at all. "That terrible wolf has turned my creation around. I let my wolves have their own choice but I want to take my wrath out on him. It makes me so sad that my creation could be that messed up." She whispered angrily.

Another idea flickered in my mind. "You can punish him."

Mother looked at me weirdly, "How?"

"During the Dark War, my Alpha met a girl, Lacey. This was when we were attempting to convince the Southern Pack to ally with us to defeat the enemy. However, we weren't able to get her. She was the Luna. Well, supposed to be the Luna. Today, she appeared here, to get refuge. We know though, that the Southern Pack will be coming to take her away. We have a plan."

She snapped her fingers. "I cannot believe I blessed him with a mate. I see where you're going with this. Break the bond between them, leaving him mateless. It will hurt him, physically and mentally. Eventually...he will die. But, what about Lacey? The girl didn't deserve that cruelty."

"Mom, I've heard you've given second chances to wolves. I believe, entirely, Lacey deserves this."

The goddess sighed, then nodded. "You're right. We must do this now. I cannot do this, now that I am free of the position. The only way to give wolves second chances is to pick their mate. Do you know anyone she could spend her life with?"

"Ahhh! Our ship set sail!" Clove yipped, making me smirk outwardly.

"Of course."

I broke out of the trance with my Mother and went back to the council room. Lacey was on the floor as Isla and Jennalyn were fanning her. They had confused looks.

Jen sighed in relief when she saw me. "She fainted out of the blue. Can you get her out of it?"

Shaking my head, I took my seat back. "No. She's switching mates."

Isla squealed and Jen raised an eyebrow. "What?"

"The South will not be attacking us. Lacey will be having a second chance at a mate. Alpha Dyna might be going back now."

Lacey stirred and arose at the sound of her name. "W-what?" She lifted her nose into the air and sniffed. "Do you smell that?"

I looked at her curiously, putting up a facade. "Smell what?"

"I don't know but it smells heavenly..." The girl rose up slowly and started to follow. "Like, pine and sandalwood mixed together." She started to walk out the door and we followed, excitedly. I hoped that it would work right and it would be to the person I hoped it would be.

She suddenly ran into Quinn and fell on the floor, yelping. "I'm sorry...I didn't mean to." She said, not looking at who it was. I could see that her eyes knew that it was someone special.

"It's alright. Let me help you." Quinn said smiling, bending down and offering his hand to her. He was always a gentleman, a perfect match.

Slowly her vision reached up to him and he was taken aback, taking away his hand. "You? But I don't understand. I met you..."

This was my time to step in. "I do. Lacey, I'm the Moon Goddess. Because of the circumstances, you are given a second chance at a mate. Dyna, unfortunately, will be punished by his acts to you and to his pack."

Her mind tried to grasp the information that was given. "Then, sir...you're my mate. No wonder it smelled so good--" A blush grew on her cheeks as she realized what she had just said.

Quinn chuckled and pulled her up and into his chest. "Mate...my wolf loves knowing that a gorgeous creature is equal to us. I know you won't be a Luna anymore, but I hope you will be happy with who I am."

She shook her head and stood on her toes, slowly reaching her arms around his neck to return his hug. "No. I would rather be with a Beta who loves me for who I am. Who actually spends time with me."

A hand tapped my shoulder and I looked over as Isla ushered me and Jen out of the hallway. Ugh. I felt this was so adorable and I really wanted to see more. However, I knew they needed privacy. A smile reached my face, knowing that I was able to create a future for them.
