Life is hard. Life is difficult. There are so many negative things any creature or human could say about it. I've always tried to see the positives but ever since that man and strange blue light entered my life, my mind was everywhere.
"Mal? You okay?" Isla asked, making me shoot up my head from the doodles I was doing on the edge of an analysis sheet I had.
Jen chuckled. "Alpha's been asking for the data for the past couple minutes now."
"Oh! I'm sorry, uh.." I tried to erase the sketches but Isla was too quick and grabbed them swiftly.
Her eyebrows shot up as she studied the image. "Is this a fire or something? Wait...is that a guy next to it? Hold on, this isn't Ryan."
My heart fell down a thousand feet. Was she going to think I was with another man or something? However, she looked at me kindly and smiled. "Let's go out for a minute."
We walked out to the kitchen of her cabin and she placed it on the counter. I took a deep breath and was so glad that the Darkmoon council wasn't in the conference room at that moment because they had to scout out places.
"So? What is it?" Jenna asked, pouring herself some orange juice.
Nibbling on my lip, I groaned. "That's what it is. I don't know what the flame is. I've been trying to figure it out. My heart...it's pulling me towards it. It was in the woods." Clutching the paper, I looked down at it, the image so vivid in my brain.
Isla sat in front of me and looked at me. "So? Did you go towards it?"
I stood up quickly and looked outside the window, sighing. "That's the thing. I followed it, the night you two were asleep. Something was bothering me and keeping me awake. It was so beautiful...It was just a trail of little blue flames but made of one. I can't explain it."
Jen had stopped everything she was doing, her eyes wide. "Where did it lead?"
"I stopped following it. It...it wanted me to go outside the pack border..all the way to the outside of the valley. It was urging me to go. But I haven't seen it since." I shrugged and sat on a bar chair.
"Then who's the man? He's hot." Alpha pointed to the other sketch. "There's no way that's legitimate."
I smiled. "That's Dion. That's why I asked if there were any break-ins. He kinda just appears...then disappears; of course when I'm naked."
The Delta dropped her plastic cup. "What!"
Laughing, I put a hand on her shoulder. "It's no big deal, he doesn't do anything." Then I scrunched my eyebrows together. "He's not a werewolf...he's not a vampire...he's something else. Look, he has black hair with royal blue streaks. It seems real, not dyed or anything. Dion has the structure of an Alpha if that's how I would describe him. His eyes though...are spectacular. They're cerulean. You just get entranced by them..."
"Woah. Is she in love?" I heard Jen whisper to Isla.
I gasped and turned to her. "No of course not! I only love Ryan! If you saw him...you would understand. I should erase this though. Ry might not like it." I grabbed the eraser and started to erase it quickly, my beautiful drawings disappearing under the eraser threads. "Promise me you won't speak a word of this to anyone." The girls nodded and we headed back to the room quickly.

Sitting in my own room of the packhouse, I drummed my fingers onto the desk, my mind wandering around about the two things that were driving me absolutely insane. Taking out a piece of paper, I started to sketch out Dion, every line that I remembered. After finishing my artwork, I rolled it up and hid it in a box so that Ryan wouldn't see.
Suddenly, the door slammed open just as I put the paper into it. I shrieked then sighed, understanding that it was only Jenna. However, I grew worried when I saw her concerned eyes. "Come quick! West and Isla are having a fight!"
I raised an eyebrow, standing up. "Okay? Normal couples have fights, Jen." I closed the sliding door of my closet.
"No, I'm serious, this is big. They had it during a meeting." Now, this caught my attention. Isla never let her guard down and always made it a point to keep up her reputation unless it meant something serious.
Grabbing my coat quickly, we headed out the door, running to Alpha's conference room. Olivia, the head warrior was standing outside, making sure no one came in. Her face had relief when she saw me come in.
"Thank Goddess you're here, Beta. The construction workers left because they were scared. After all, it's two Alphas..." Nodding, I opened the door to see Alpha Isla and Alpha West glaring at each other furiously.
Putting a hand on Isla's shoulder, I quietly asked what happened.
She scoffed. "He happened!" She pointed an accusing finger at her mate. "One of the construction workers politely asked what we were going to teach at the school we were planning to build. West said," Isla started to mimic his voice, exaggerating it, "Of course all the core subjects but maybe some magic too. It's good for pups to learn it, ever since the War that happened."
West rolled his eyes and leaned back in his chair. "They should! They need to learn in case of an emergency! We can have it as a side class, their parents can decide if they want their pups to or not."
"That is not what you said before! I am not having Mila and Chase learn some Dark Magic, especially from my own mate!" Isla yelled.
My eyes widened. Dark Magic? Did West know that? I had only heard a couple of packs knew it but it was completely forbidden. To even let kids be exposed to it...no wonder she was furious.
"Oh please, I'm not the only one who knows it. My Beta and Delta do too, you know that." He smirked and Isla turned to me swiftly. All the color drained from my face. Ryan knows it? Did she know about this information?
Isla turned back to her mate, her brown eyes flashing. She grabbed his collar over the table and slapped him across the face. Jennalyn gasped and Olivia dropped her spear onto the ground from the doorway.
Oh dang. Everything had just gone down.
