"The council will now come to session," Hermes said. "We'll be reviewing Alec's actions and decide if he is going to prison for life or freedom."

Zeus put a hand up. "No, if he dies or gets free."

Dion stood up quickly, along with me. "What? What do you mean?" He asked, his voice dangerously quiet.

"I mean, I will give your father complete freedom, no marks on him. As you know, if a god gets 'freedom' he still is heavily watched and placed in a house with escorts. Your father won't get that. If I win, well, he gets executed in the square." The king had a menacing look in his eyes that made me want to claw his face up.

However, this risk had only a slight chance of happening. I had full proof on my hands, plus I was allowed to call two witnesses, according to their laws. Something was irking me though. Even if I didn't know Zeus very well, he had something up his sleeve. He wouldn't blatantly put out a bet like this.

My eyes narrowed slightly then I stuck out my hand. "Deal." I would just have to go with it and see.

"What was the reason that Alec was incarnated?" Hermes asked.

"According to the Book, he lay with the previous Moon Goddess despite what was said in the prophecy. Yes, Meridin is rightfully taking the position The prophecy stated that neither of them was to have mates." Aphrodite said, looking down at a journal and flipping the pages.

I grabbed the little golden bell on the podium and rang it, indicating that I had something to say. "Gods, goddesses, this seems bad but in the ancient days, if a deity was prophesied not to have a mate, then they were free to choose anyone, as long as their partner had the same as well. Keep in mind that though this is old, it has never been changed."

My eyes scoured the room and I could see most of the people were nodding their heads in agreement. I turned to Zeus and could see him visibly clenching his fists. He then grabbed his own bell and jostled it, making it ring. Everyone turned to look at him.

He smiled a 'golden' smile. "Of course, Meridin, you are new to the gods' realm and only this year have you been learning about it. We understand why you won't know everything. Do you know who exactly your father is? What type of god he is?"

My eyebrows rose slightly but I did not want my neutral expression to waver. No one told me who Alec was but I never cared. However, not knowing, might be bad for me in this case. Zeus smirked. "He's just a Sword. An inanimate object that was put into a magic cauldron that made it a god sword by a dark wizard. Technically, he is allowed to be here and belongs to me. But he's not actually a being. Just an object. Alec is useless."

"What the heck?!" I leaped over the podium in one swift jump and grabbed his collar, forcing him close to me. "You take that back!"

Immediately, everyone was on guard. I could sense gods taking out their weapons and the goddesses reaching for their different magic items. Aphrodite slowly walked towards me and put a hand on my back.

"Meridin...calm down. If you do anything to our king, you will be removed from your title and executed. Shall we call for a ten-minute break to cool yourself down?" She asked in her quiet voice.

Dion came towards me as well, however not making a move to touch me. I know everyone knew I was powerful; it wasn't me just showing off. I could sense I had way more powers than a normal goddess since I was still made of Dark Magic as well. "Mal, come on." He said.

I slowly released the king and walked out the door, Dad and Dion following me. In the giant hall, I turned to look at my father. "Is it true?"

He nodded, his green eyes so similar to mine, looking sad, "Yes, it is true. I am the Sword of Hercules, the son of Zeus. However, since he died, I was granted to become a human. Zeus thinks he owns me but he doesn't."

"Zeus has this against us, Dad! Even if you technically aren't his, it'll seem like you can be! I know we didn't have much time, I just wish you told me this sooner." I said, frustrated.

"Agapiménos, I think you're just mad at the situation we're in. Don't get upset at your father. Remember, you're saving him. We may not have a lot of information but we have evidence. Maybe it's time to use it now." Dion said, touching my cheek.

He was right. It was time to use the big guns now. That wretched bastard thinks he could use that to defeat me but I can't let that sway me. I turned and went back to the courtroom, everyone's eyes on me.

"Gods all alike, please listen to me. I know I am cutting the recess short but I have hard proof that my Father is innocent. And this proof is against...the king of the gods." I said, pointing at Zeus.

The room gasped and Aphrodite got up and quietly whispered, "You know what you are doing, right Meridin? Everyone here is in loyalty to him and so am I. But I want you to have a chance to prove yourself. You too might be executed."

Instead of answering, I grabbed the ball out of my bag and lifted the ball that West had given me out. With a sudden flash, it rose up. Just like a movie screen, it played something, in what I assumed was Dad's memory of Zeus.

"No, I don't want you invading the gods' space. You'll get a full raid. I know you want control on that measly little part of earth. What? One god? Well, I suppose you can take Selene's, the Moon Goddesses' favorite pack. Yes, her daughter is in that one but she won't destroy you, she's barely a goddess. Deal? Alright, fine." Zeus puts down a golden phone and his beady blue eyes scour the office. He then spots Alec who stands there, frozen on the spot.

"Uh, your Majesty, I-I was going to bring you these files....what the hell are you going to do to my Selene?" Alec stutters, his green eyes flashing in anger.

The King is about to beg for mercy than a look in his face changes. He smirks and yells for the guards to come. They grab Alec and make him bow before Zeus. "I am planning to make your lover's creation go bye-bye." He sneers. "She will also cry in agony and, hey, I don't know, maybe even get killed herself. This is for what you get, becoming a god from an unworthy man you are, for snooping in places you don't belong."

The ball stops playing and crashes on the ground, breaking into a million pieces. I didn't realize I was crying and wiped my angry tears away, swerving my head to look at the disgusting man. "You! It was all you! Do you see this? This 'king' of yours is unworthy to be called a royal."

The council nodded their heads and whispered amongst themselves, shaking their heads. Zeus's pale face was turning redder and redder by the moment. In a second out of the corner of my eye, I saw him lunging towards me. I heard Dion yell but I was prepared.

Something inside of me was bubbling up. I felt fire clashing together and a glow appeared in my hand. With Zeus's lightning bolt strike, I blocked it immediately with the shining white power in my hand and pushed him back, sending him all the way to the other side of the room, knocking him out.

I breathed heavily. "What?" I turned and gasped when I saw Dad's golden locks gleaming in the same silver that was in my hand. Running towards him, the magic stopped, also making his power stop as well. "Father? What--what was that?" I asked, stuttering, combing my fingers through my hair.

He smiled, stunned. "That, my dear, is the power of the Sword. I am your Sword. Whenever you want to protect or want to show your magic, I am there."

"But weren't you Zeus's? I mean, considering he stole you from the cauldron..." I asked, trying to process the information.

Aphrodite came up to me, tying her glossy pink hair into a ponytail. "Yes. He was. But now...darling, you're our new Queen." She said, smiling. "You possess the power."
