Both of the men turned around, quickly, their eyes wide. I waved at them and pointed my fingers behind my back, silently instructing Dion where to remove their 'work.' I assumed it was the chemistry bottles that were bubbling weird purple liquid. Why do they always have to make it so obvious?

"You stupid girl!" West growled, running and pinning me down. I barely struggled because, learning from Olivia and Isla, it would be useless and only put me in further danger.

I laughed. "I prefer woman." Dragging my leg up to his crotch, I promptly kicked my foot where the family jewels were with as much force as I could muster. Hopefully, I'd still get some nieces and nephews. I wanted to be the godmother, not Jenna.

West groaned and lifted up his chest, letting me flip him over and pin him down. With this little break, I turned to see what was happening with the other two. Ryan was wrestling with Dion to stay away from the creepy bottles, making me frown.

"Sorry West, Isla says hi. But I gotta blast!" I ran off, headbutting my own mate into another table that held a bunch of heavy books that fell on him. "Break them!" I told Dion.

Suddenly, I felt cold clamped on both of my wrists. Gold wristbands were tightened around my arms and were pulled back, making me gasp in pain. "What the.."

West smirked. "See, Ryan and I don't like it when someone messes with our plans. We knew it would be you though."

I struggled against him as he led me towards a cage at the far end of the room. "It's weakening me...But it's not silver, it's gold." I whispered, trying to understand what this was.

"A little bit of dark magic for you. Pretty neat huh?" He chuckled, opening the gate and throwing me inside. He clamped a similar one on my leg that was held down by a large steel ball to keep me from moving and one around my throat. Chains were everywhere on me. West knew what he was doing which was really annoying. He knew that now that I was initiated as a goddess, my power was stronger than a normal werewolf or any other supernatural creature.

My eyes drifted to Dion as he lunged at West but was stopped by a magical barrier between him and us. I realized that when he was mad, the cerulean streaks in his hair glowed as well. Interesting. He breathed heavily, his eyes sad when he realized he couldn't get to me. Dion ran down the stairs, disappearing, leaving me alone.

It was okay. It was fine. I wanted him to leave. I wanted him to save himself. Wherever he was going, I hoped it would be safe and Ryan and West wouldn't go after him or send any goons. Dang, it was really hard to breathe in this throat thing.

"Why the hell are you doing this, West? I seethed, baring my canines. "I'm your friend." I turned to look at Ryan, my eyes watering. "And you! I'm your freaking mate!"

Ryan smirked and the Alpha nodded, going out of the room. "Yeahhh, actually, about that, you're not."

Time stopped. Everything stopped. He did not say what I think he just said.

"You...what?"

He shrugged, picking up a glass bottle and inspected it. "I really am not. I wanted you to believe it. I made a spell and you 'smelled' your mate, which was me. It helped me get into the core of the system."

I blinked, making the tears fall out. So many things were making me cry; definitely the worst day ever. "Why?"

Ryan walked over to me, putting a finger on my chin. ¨That, my darling, is not a thing for you to know." I glared at him, whipping it away from him. "I'm not your darling anymore."

"Eh, whatever. But let me tell you, your kisses are seriously addictive." He walked away. "You should make a kissing booth or something. You'd be really rolling in the cash."

I growled, pulling against the chains but failing. ̈Clove, Clove, are you there?¨ I mind-linked my wolf, quickly, hoping she would respond.

Hearing her whisper a faint 'yes ́ in my mind gave me great relief. ¨You knew about this, didn't you? Why didn't you just tell me? We could have nipped this in the bud.¨ I asked.

She sighed and lay back down in my mind. ¨I did not want to hurt you more. I could feel that the link between us and him was not as strong as a normal one would be. However, the spell he put on us is fading. So, perhaps, we could find our real mate or our mate is still out there....̈  Clove frowned. ¨This gold is making me really tired...¨

My eyes widened, urging my wolf to get up and come back to me, but she did not respond. I scooched my legs forward as much as I could and grasped the metal bars of the cage. ¨How could you do this Ryan? We ́re combined, even if we are not mates! Doesn't it hurt you??¨

Ryan looked at me with eyes that had nothing in them and left the room, not responding. I breathed heavily and fell down to the floor, thankful that the stone tiled floor was cool enough for my aching, hot head. ̈ ̈Clove...please, reach out to them. I need them.¨
