Blinking, I slowly took them off. My dad? For some reason, I never exactly thought of him. It was kind of like he never existed. It was only my mom in the picture. With all the drama around, I didn't exactly care. "He's...he's alive?"
With a nod, she fell back onto the armrest, putting her hands on her eyes, shutting the light out. I understood why though. It was all too much. Drama was never gonna forsake us. Ever.
"Your dad...he is amazing. He's not a werewolf or human. He is a god. But, I did something terrible.
My Mother did something terrible? From her type I never expected she would make a mistake in her life. She seemed way too perfect.
"What did you do?" I asked, curiously.
She sat up and tucked a curl of her hair behind her ear and looked up to the ceiling. "It was a long story. But, since time doesn't pass here, I'm sure you can wait. You finally learned another skill, which I'm so proud of." Mother smiled at me. "Anyway, there was a prophecy, there always is by the way, I think you found out by now." She winked at me and I blushed, knowing that she knew about me and Dion.
"Your dad, he is not my cousin because he evolved differently. It's complicated. I met him during one of Zeus's crazy parties. We talked since none of my cousins really cared about me. We had similar interests...and I fell in love." Her smile was dreamy and I knew that this was real.
"For a couple of months, we hung out, secretly of course. Gossip was everywhere. Your dad courted me, gave me cloud flowers, he even went down to earth to get me Doritos, my favorite chips." Mother giggled.
"He was a gentleman but such a nerd. Your dad would explain so much data. I would get tired of it but I loved him. You have all your looks from him. Curly blonde hair, green eyes. Your dad...he was extremely handsome. We were in love. One day...I mustered up enough courage and asked him to mark me as a goddess and perform the god ritual. He was surprised and thought I was drunk or something. But I wanted him so much. Him marking me was our sign of marriage. Finally, after so much effort, he agreed." She sighed.
"Then...I realized I was pregnant with you. Your daddy.." Glass beads started to fall down. "He was so, so, happy. He spun me around in the air then he got so scared that he thought he hurt you. He caressed my belly and he would sing and whisper to you, 'Daddy is here. Nothing will happen to my Meridin.' But..."
A dark shadow overcast her face. "I couldn't hide it anymore. My stomach was starting to show. Instead of me getting a punishment, he did. What I didn't realize was that there was a prophecy already installed. Since your dad was never meant to have a mate nor was I...he's in prison. For twenty years, he has been in prison. I don't know what they're planning to do....but I know, he may not live."
The same feeling of regret and heartbreak came to me when I heard my dad was alive but he was going to die soon. My father was alive...how could the gods do this?! No, this couldn't happen!
"No!" I stood up. "We have to end this. If you both weren't supposed to have mates, there must be a way to stop this, Mother!"
She shook her head. "It's inevitable, dear. Prophecies can't be changed."
I frowned. "You didn't do anything wrong. Why can't you two have love the same way humans can? You give love to werewolves too! They will always have their attractions. There must be a way."
Mother smiled sadly. "I gave the name he wanted to you. I have you to remind me of him. That's what matters." She stood up and hugged me close, "I still love him and I love you. You may go by Mallory, but remember you are Meridin. That's what your father gave to his sweet daughter. He was so happy..." She whispered wistfully.
"What was his name?" I asked, quietly.
"It's a name that isn't remembered by Greek mythology. No one knows because it's been erased from history."
"Just tell me Mother, please. I want to know." I pleaded.
She sighed. "Alec. His name was Alec."
I smiled. I loved my dad's name. Nodding, I let go of her. "Thank you. I know you won't like it, but I will find out how to get him out, no matter what."
Mother sighed. "So ambitious, just like me. You get everything from both of us. You're definitely our daughter."
I laughed and snapped my fingers, entering back into the old stone room where I left from. Running out, I saw the council waiting for me. My face lit up when I saw Isla and West there as well. Ryan was in a cage that was held by two of the warriors.
Isla walked towards me eagerly, "So? Were you able to talk to the Moon Goddess? Or, well, I guess she's just a Goddess now."
I shrugged, not really caring about labels."Yes, I figured it out. My Mother didn't want me to be thrown in by it, it wasn't her decision. But we need to go back to the pack as soon as possible. I have a lot of research to be doing." I started to walk towards the entrance. Everyone started to follow, including all the packs.
"On what?" Dion asked.
"My father."
The council's jaws dropped. "Your father?!"
Jen put a hand on my shoulder before we got out the door. "You never talked about him, before."
I sighed and walked out into the chilly evening. "I never thought about him. My Mother explained who he was and right now he's in a situation where he shouldn't be. I'm planning to bring him to justice, against all the gods and goddesses. Without him, I wouldn't have been born and have this wonderful, dramatic, life." I chuckled.
Dion wrapped his fingers through mine and I looked up at him. "Without him, I wouldn't have you, and what would life live up to? We'll help you throughout this situation. Also, I know this may seem like a random time to say it but, I want to live with you, here on earth. This is where our duty belongs, I can feel it. Not all gods and goddesses have to be up there."
My arms wrapped around his neck and I whispered a thanks in his ear. I heard everyone awwing in the background and a blush came to my cheeks, but I ignored it. It was fine. They would have to know who we were anyway. We would have to hold a ceremony for Dion to come into the pack so he would be formally introduced and hear the thoughts of everyone. He may not be a werewolf but with trading blood, it could be done.
"Let's shift?" I turned to ask the others.
They nodded and turned into their beautiful wolves. Dion climbed onto Clove and we started to run fast down the mountain path and through the trees. I finished two chapters in my life, a hard one at that. Now it was time to start another.
