POV Alec
It had been 5 days now since Maryse and Robert had revealed their secret to Alec and his siblings and it still felt weird. His whole life Alec had loved reading about supernatural creatures in this books but he never would have thought that all of this was actually real. But it did make sense in some way. Actually a lot of things made a lot more sense to him now like why Maryse had always been so overprotective of them.
But there were also a bunch of new questions Alec just couldn't get out of his head. The most important one being about what role Magnus played in all of this. Neither of their parents had directly mentioned him until now but Alec had the suspicion that he had to do something with this world as well. After all Maryse had said that Magnus was part of her past in some way, which probably meant part of her past in the Shadow World ...
Alec was almost certain that this was the reason why she had been reacting so weirdly when Magnus had showed up for dinner on their first day here. She had been afraid that he would reveal her secret and that's why she had not been wanting to tell Alec how exactly she and Magnus knew each other.
But if that were true there were even more questions coming up Alec had no answer to.
According to Maryse she and Robert had left the Shadow World when he had been only three years old. When she had been telling Alec about Magnus after his first visit at their house though she had claimed that he would be "a playboy and an alcoholic who doesn't care about any rules" which meant that Magnus must be older than Alec had thought until now. It sounded like he had already been an adult when his parents had left all those years ago ...
Alec didn't have a lot of information about the different kinds of supernatural creatures yet but he guessed that all of them aged different than humans did. Vampires surely were immortal but if Magnus was one of them he wouldn't be able to walk in the sun - or would he?
When that thought crossed his mind Alec couldn't help but feel like he was crazy. Just one week ago he never would have assumed that Magnus could be anything else than ... well human ... but since his parents had told him the truth about what was actually going on around him he felt like everything was possible and it kinda scared him.
There still were lots of things Alec didn't really understand but he had decided not to ask his mother about it. He wanted to hear this from Magnus. Whatever it exactly was. Of course he could also be completely wrong about all of this but he felt like what Magnus was going to tell him once he came back would have to do something with the Shadow World as well. Everything else just didn't make any sense at this point.
He just wished he wouldn't have to think about this constantly because it was slowly but surely driving him completely insane. In respect thereof he was actually very glad that the big Basketball game would be so soon because it was a rather good distraction for him. They were training quite a lot these days and that was keeping him from thinking too much at least for a few hours.
In the evening however, when he was lying in bed and tried to sleep the thoughts always came back again and didn't want to let him rest.
Because of that he had been a little bit out of it for the last few days. He had even forgotten to call Magnus for two whole days but luckily he wasn't upset about it. However Alec had the feeling that Magnus had realized that something had been bothering him when they had talked on the phone the day before. He had always been a bad liar but he couldn't possibly talk with Magnus about all of this on the phone. He needed to see him again, now even more desperately than before, but he was also nervous about what would happen once he came back.
What if he told him something that Alec couldn't handle? What if things wouldn't develop like he had hoped to? What if they were too different after all and everything would be ruined ...
