Flight MG-022: In Malibu

"We've already started our descent in Los Angeles International Airport. We are expected to land at 5:45PM. If you want to adjust your watch, it is already 5:28PM in Los Angeles now. The weather in the city is sunny and the temperature is 18 degrees Celsius. We wish you a pleasant stay in the city and we hope to see you again very soon. On behalf of all our crew, thank you for choosing Manila Airways as your airline today. Alpas, Pilipinas. Maraming Salamat." I announced to the passengers as we started our descent in Los Angeles, California.

"First class, huh." Corbyn teased.

I glared. "Focus on your controls. We're nearing the airport."

"Sus, aminin mo na kinikilig ka 'no? Sa sobrang kilig mo pinalipat mo ng first class seat si Gabby."

"She just saved a passenger. It's a thank you gesture from the airline. And besides, we do that all the time."

"Gesture from the airline. We do that all the time." He mocked. "Sus, 'wag ako lokohin mo. Naging pasahero ko rin naman yung crush ko pero 'di ko siya pinalipat ng seat."

"Because you already arranged for her to be in a first class seat beforehand." I countered.

"Touché." He laughed.

"We're about to descent. Umayos ka na."

"Yes, sir." He gave me an exaggerated salute. "So, saan pala kayo magda-date pagka-landing natin ng LA?"

I rolled my eyes. "Walang ganon."

"Bro! Ang hina mo naman? Hindi kita pinalaki na ganiyan!"

I held the bridge of my nose, soothing my already aching head. "Can you just go back on your task? I'm about to call the ATC."

"Payong expert lang bro, 'di na kayo bata, bilisan niyo na. Humayo kayo at magparami."

"She doesn't even want to be with me anymore kaya tumigil ka na."

"Then make her want you again. Easy."

"Easy for you to say." I shook my head.

"So ganon na lang 'yon? Wala kang plano?"

"I don't know. I didn't plan for this to happen today."

"Coincidence nga, e. Kailan pa naging plano 'yon? Labo mo naman. Bilisan mo na, baka maunahan ka pa."

That got me thinking. Was she married to someone else already? It's been eight years at alam ko marami nang nagbago. Mukhang ako na lang ang hindi pa makawala sa nakaraan.

Hindi ko na siya pinansin at tumawag na sa Air Traffic Control to ask for permission to land.

"ATC. Orient seven five zero zero requesting for landing."

Tower: [radar contact. Seven five zero zero for traffic extend your downwind, I'll call your base.]

"Extending downwind. Five zero zero."

I signaled Corbyn to follow and we changed the controls and flew around the vicinity to wait for our turn to land.

Tower: [Seven five zero zero enter right traffic for runway.]

"Entering right traffic for runway. Five zero zero." I confirmed.

Tower: [Seven five zero zero, follow traffic at your 12 o'clock.]

"Traffic in sight."

Tower: [cleared for the option.]

"Landing at full stop. Five zero zero." I said as I wait for the aircraft in front of us the land first.
