Vampires did not grow old, either they withered young or they had human blood to keep themselves young. So naturally everyone tensed up.
"He doesn't do that anymore." Taehyung looked pleadingly at Byul, trying to dissipate the tension.
"Byul, we all have stuff in our past." She finally looked at me. "I have things in the past."
"Okay."
Tae was relieved at that. "I'll get them. It'll be an hour or so." He walked away quickly from the back door worried that Byul might change her mind again.
Byul looked at him from her seat. "Does that kid even have normal friends?" She shook her head disapprovingly.
"You are his normal friend, Byul."
"I hate it when you say stupid things like that."
I grinned. I knew she didn't like it. She stood up, asking Joon if he already had breakfast. He did.
She walked back to the kitchen. I followed her. I didn't want her to be alone while she prepared her food. "I am sorry. We finished all of those muffins."
"It's okay. We have some bread left. I'll have that with tea," she said, preparing the kettle. I just stood there leaning on the counter as she worked. I could hear Namjoon and Jungkook talking in the other room.
"I don't really care about the house. It's not even mine to care about." She had her back toward me as she was working on the stove.
I was about to protest, when she added, "I don't trust you with vampires around."
"You don't have to worry about me."
"I know you won't die. It's just. Last time we had an attack I barely saw you for the next 8 years."
I nodded. "I am much better at controlling it now."
She turned back to look at me and laughed a little at that. "You say that but-"
"I am just stressed these days, Byul."
