We made our way upstairs with a select few of the luggages Namjoon had that were actually clothes. The stairway was uncomfortably narrow. It barely allowed a person of normal size through.
Father used to say they were made that way so in case of a vampire attack only one vampire at a time could pass. It would make defending easier. But one could hardly defend against a vampire unless they were still young. A vampire attack was pretty much indefensible.
“Have you ever thought if vampire venom could react slowly? Like if someone is a big person? Or if they only get only a little bit of the venom into their system? ” I started.
Namjoon was struggling to get his large suitcase upstairs, while I was only carrying his hat case. “You know that doesn’t happen. That’s such a stupid question.” He suddenly stopped. “Do you think your father?” He asked worriedly.
“No, no!” I said understanding what he implied. “No, I met Tae, today.”
He finally got to the hallway and looked back, raising his eyebrow in disapproval. “And you talked to him?”
“I am okay with talking to him. I am not that weak.” I huffed as I pushed past him, walking towards his room.
“Gray, you know that’s not what I mean. What did you and Tae talk about, Gray?” He slightly pleaded. He didn’t want to start a fight the day he got here.
I put his hat bag on mother’s vanity and sat on the chair in front of it, looking back at Namjoon dragging his suitcase inside. He did not even bother to move it to the side and just sat on it.
“Is this your mother’s room?” he asked looking at the decor.
“Yeah. I took father’s. I just want to stay there for a couple of days and just settled in.” I mumbled. “Tae was there with father that day. He was bitten. But I looked. He hasn’t turned.”
“That’s not possible.”
I know. “ I really looked, Joonie.”
“I believe you,” he nodded reassuringly. I don’t know what exactly it was. Maybe the fact I told an actual human being about it, or the fact it was Joon, or his gesture. I felt so relieved. I actually believed what I saw. “We could look into the record in your library.”
“There's no point. I have looked through a lot of them at some point. Father has looked through everything. I have never even heard of that probability.”
“And Tae is normal?” he questioned.
“Very much so.”
“We have to look through everything. We have no choice,” Namjoon said with renewed determination.
“Just with us three. It might take weeks.”
“Maybe we can ask Hoseok.” Joon said, with sparkling eyes. Him and Hoseok got along quite well the last time he was here. Both of them were very intelligent and curious with opposing personalities. Namjoon was reserved, while Hoseok exuded vigor. So it was particularly apparent that he did not like me. I did not take it against him. I understood his dislike towards me. I just wished he wasn’t so transparent about it. Everytime he looked at me or I talked, his vibrant demeanor just fell.
“I don't think we should tell more people. I haven’t actually told anyone.”
