Jeon Jungkook had a very stern attitude, which was a stark contrast to how he looked. He looked rather young, but I had expected him to look young from all that father used to tell me about him. But somehow he looked much younger than what I expected to be his age to be. The rough work in the police station hierarchy hadn't taken an effect in his appearance.
I was looking over the case report he had handed me. He had returned to his seemingly routine activity. But I was sure he was just waiting for me to point out the glaring error. One person in the party was not accounted for. Three people died, rest of the twenty people who were invited had given an interview after the incident. One didn't.
"So," I began. To which he immediately perked up, so he was waiting. "That one person who couldn't interview the day of. Did you get to interview them?"
"He does not want to talk," he stated. His eyes visibly lighting at the mystery, while he eagerly leaned forward. "He states that the incident shocked him to such a grievous amount that he does not remember even getting home from the party. He apparently was shocked out of his senses. He was very apologetic about it." The look on his face and the tone of voice clearly showed that he didn't believe any of it.
"And you don't believe him."
"I have dealt with Kim Taehyung enough to know when he is lying." Shit. Not him. "So you know him," Jungkook said at the expression on my face.
"Well there aren't many people in London who are unaware of Kim Taehyung." He was infamous for numerous shenanigans that had had a slight impact on the police department. It was more or less routine for the police to deal with the rowdy noble teen and his royal companion, Park Jimin. Then again, he was more on the spotlight recently following the disappearance of the said prince. "Even if it is Kim Taehyung, you can't let someone off after a suspected vampire attack."
He sighed. "It hasn't been formally classified as a vampire attack," he said exasperatedly running his hand through his hair. "Not even a suspected one. Too many noble families were involved. We couldn't get the statement from the government."
"It was one. I know my father and I am sure a normal person would not have gotten him in that state. If not a vampire, worse."
"I know," He sighed again. "I have been monitoring his whereabouts for the past five days. He seems clean." That was the standard protocol for vampire bite. Usually people die the day of or turn within three days. Five days being the precautionary time allotted just in case someone turned a bit slower than general. Also thorough inspection would have been done, but he probably couldn't do that without an official statement.
"We have to see him to know what he is hiding. It's not an exact science. Things could be different."
"He hasn't allowed visitors. Says it would exasperate his shock." Jungkook was obviously exhausted trying to deal with the Kims.
"That's not possible. The Kim manor is huge. Their business couldn't float without people visiting them everyday." They had a banking and loaning business very much aligned with the crown and very profitable because of the royal favor.
"Taehyung hasn't been living with his family for a while. He has an apartment in central London." Well that did explain how Jungkook could have monitored him easily by himself. Monitoring the Kim manor would have taken a lot of people.
"You should write him a letter announcing our visit tomorrow."
" I have announced my visit multiple times this week", he said, making sure that I received the fact that the usage of "announced" was very pretentious.
Neglecting his slight aggression, "Hush! Hush! Let's get you a pen and paper."
And he did get himself to write the message, mumbling considerably about how he was still my boss, while I got ready to leave.
"See you tomorrow at the station. And don't forget to mention that you will be arriving with the daughter of Lord Gray." I winked. He huffed at that as he had been almost done with the letter without fucking announcing the presence of the heir of the Gray family.
