We went through the backdoor because I wanted to avoid people. My heart dropped as soon as I heard Joon talking to someone, Jin  but I really hadn't heard him speak that often to differentiate his voice.

Moonbyul looked back at us when we entered. "Supper will be ready in half an hour."

"Byul, I am not hungry. I'll be upstairs." I took my bag from Jungkook and went upstairs, quickly nodding to both Jin and Joon as I passed them.

I went to the library to get the records of the past 5 years or so. I tried carrying the whole thing at once but I had to reconsider and got everything into my room in 2 trips.

I was studying them when someone knocked. "Come in," I said absent-mindedly. "You didn't have to bring that up, Joon."

I looked up to see Jungkook with a tray. "Oh, Jungkook."

He stood there awkwardly as I prepared a small space on the study table to put the tray. "Moonbyul told me to stay as it was getting late," he said as he put my dinner down.

I nodded.

He looked at the stuff on the table flipping through the pages. "What are you looking at?"

I stood up to get another chair, which was by the closet. I had used it to get stuff from on top of the closet. "Here."

We both sat down. "Something hasn't been making sense to me." I ate a bit of dinner while talking. "Do you see the ages of the victims from like about 5-6 years ago?" I pointed at the records.

"It's getting older?"

"Yeah," I mumbled through food. Maybe I was really hungry. "That's unusual. Why would vampires attack young healthy bodied men in their 20s?"

He nodded. Vampires tend to target young children as they were easier prey and had more life energy. Young men were among the least targeted demographics.

"Even Jimin and Tae are very unusual targets."

"Jimin just told me that he doesn't remember the face of their assailant. Neither does Taehyung." I frowned.

"Jin is guessing it was the result of some kind of memory charm." He checked to see if I was familiar with it. I nodded. "Apparently if you use enough of them you can blur someone's existence into a certain time in future."

"Enough of them?" Memory charms were expensive potions that took ages to ferment, decades if not more. Even the one I used on Taehyung had been paid by Lady Kim.

"It's not a big deal for an old vampire. The money and time." He saw me staring."Eat."

"I am," I whined. How much memory charms were we talking about? I knew one can buy pretty inexpensive ones for low rates that gives you the temporary ability to forget tiny trinkets, commonly used by thieves. But even those were sparingly used seeing how expensive it was and how rigorous the whole process was.

"You are thinking, not eating."

"I am doing both."

He flicked my forehead casually leaning his head on his other hand.

"What?" I yelled.

"What are you thinking about?"

"I don't understand why? Why would one do something so extensive?" I huffed.
