Y/n's POV

Another month went by and Alex was still in his coma, and no one was sure when, or even if, he was gonna come out of it. It was nearing Christmas, and I had already gotten something for each of the kids, along with the dogs, and my friends. And I had one for Alex, one that was wrapped and ready, and it had been sitting in my room for over 3 months now, longer than he has been in his coma, which started about a month ago.

The kids had helped me get the place ready and the tree decorated. I had invited Rob and his family, Kerry and her family, Kate and Y/f/n, Trevon and his new girlfriend Penelope, and Adam and his family. Everyone was going to come, and we had done a secret Santa. I had gotten Y/f/n, and I had gotten her the necklace that she had been wanting for years, it was a necklace with her birthstone in it with her name in a circle around it.

It was a week from Christmas Eve, and the children were all busy. I had been visiting Alex less, because of the demands and wishes of my friends and children. I was going to come on Christmas Eve with the children to visit him, they hadn't gone much because they were so busy with school and their hobbies and passions.

I was in the hospital, and I was holding his hand, updating his silent corpse about what had happened since the last visit. Everything was still the same, the blank white walls, the beeping of the heart monitor, the noise from the traffic outside the window.

I had just finished talking and silence had taken over the room when I felt a faint squeeze of my hand that Alex was holding. I whipped my head over to look at his hand and face, almost giving myself whiplash in the process.

"Alex? Are you there?" I asked fearfully, thinking that all of this was just a dream.

I felt another faint tug on my hand. I smiled wide, almost bursting with tears of happiness. I couldn't believe that he was still alive, that he could come back to this world. I was still worried about what would happen, but for now, this was enough.

"Do you want me to talk to you? One squeeze for yes and two for no," I told him.

I felt only one tug on my hand, and I went off, talking about all of our memories and the things we had experienced. Somewhere in the middle of these talks, I noticed that he had fallen asleep, the little grip he had on my hand had gone slack.

I ended up sleeping at the hospital, holding his hand. In the morning when I woke up, I remembered the events of the previous night and was ecstatic. I waited for about an hour, looking out the window and watching the cars and people go by.

When I felt a squeeze on my hand, I looked at Alex and smiled. The squeeze was stronger than yesterday, and his grip was a little tighter.

"Hey love," I smiled at him, giving him a peck on the lips, "Good morning."

For a second, I thought I saw his eyes flutter open and then close, but I think that I just imagined it.

Until it happened again a few minutes later. I kept watching him, and I started to talk about the moments we had shared together that I didn't talk about last night. After another hour, he was able to open his eyes for a few minutes at a time, and I was over the moon with joy.

I spent the day with him until it reached 4, him being able to open his eyes for about 15 minutes at a time, and he was able to smile at me. When it hit 4, Kerry showed up, after being told that I stayed here for the whole day, and I slept here last night too.

When she came Alex's eyes were closed and he was growing tired. She stopped in the doorway and said,

"Hey, Y/n, we need to get going, the show's at 7 and we are stopping for an early dinner with the cast," when she saw me holding his hand, she sighed, "You need to stop spending so much time here, Y/n. You're getting better, but it's been 2 months, it could take a while for him to wake up."

"But Kerry, that's the thing. He is awake," I said excitedly.

"What do you mean?" She asked, confused.

"He's been squeezing my hand, and even opening his eyes!" I replied.

"Y/n, your mind is probably playing tricks on you because of how much you have stayed here and how much you want him to wake up. Timbers is planning for you to take over for Beetlejuice for the rest of the year and for Violet to be Lydia, with Dana as her understudy, and Jessie as Sky's understudy. You have to get on with your life, everyone misses the old you, Y/n," Kerry told me.

"Kerry, you don't understand! I don't know when he woke up, but he squeezed my hand last night, and has been able to open his eyes for 15 minutes at a time finally. He's making progress Kerry, you just gotta believe in him. It's like you guys were telling me in the beginning, he's strong and he won't let a stupid car accident get in the way of his life," I said earnestly, trying to make her understand.

"Whatever helps you sleep at night, honey," Kerry smiled weakly, "Now, say your goodbyes, or whatever you usually do, and I'll be waiting outside for you."

She then left the room, and I turned to Alex and said,

"I tried, darling. I'll try to be back soon, I love you," I squeezed his hand a little bit, and he squeezed back, making me smile.

I then reluctantly let go of his hand, and went into the hallway to find Kerry, and together we headed out for dinner with our friends and family.

I'm probably going to be putting in a lot of names, so if you guys want to suggest some, then that would be greatly appreciated, and you would be recognized at the beginning of the chapter the character starts in. If your name is in here, you can change the name of the character or shorten it, and you can do that to any character, I don't really care.
