Angel and Demons AU
Cliche I knowThird POV
He tore through the clouds in a brilliant display. No one really watched him anymore. The demons fell down long long ago and so he dreamed of them watching him soar up above. He wondered what it was like to be one of them. Sinful miscreants. Nothing but horrific evil to drive them forward. At least that's what he was told. He thought of the demons differently. Misunderstood but understanding. He knew today was the day. He took a deep breath.

He sliced the clouds and dove beneath the 'ground layer' as he followed his curiosity's demand. He opened his eyes, his shining glimmering grey eyes. He could not believe what he could see. Beautiful blankets of fuzzy green stretched beyond the horizon with small dabs of colour to adorn them. Tall cuboids reached for the sky with blues and blacks to dress in. Brown sculptures adorned with leaves stood with pride, all in different shapes and sizes.
He was astonished. Nothing like this existed above. He hid himself from others and flew further down. The fuzz tangled under his bare feet. Soft yet spiked. He laid on the gentle creature. It's breathing filling the air with a fresh scent. It tickled his wings as he rolled around. He loved this odd new thing! A demon strolled by. "The grass looks beautiful today!" Grass. An amazing name for an amazing thing!
The demons looked odd. No horns? No tail? No ripped up huge wings? If anything they seemed harmless. He decided to adventure more. The paved ways of grey were filled with what seemed to be hundreds of demons with strange moving objects. They rolled along on four slim cylinders and sickening grey clouds coughed out of the back. He didn't understand but flew along. Cubes with triangular pyramids sat lined up.
He noticed an unique looking demon. They stood out. Something seemed different when he came to the blue and green girl. He flew down to investigate. She had long hair pulled back by a strange hollowed cylinder. She carried what seemed to be books. She seemed different to the much blander demons walking around. She looked towards him and shrieked in horror.
"Wha-What, i-its not Halloween ya know? H-How are you even doing that?" She looked him up and down. "Are... Are you an angel?" He set himself down. "Yes. My name is Nickel." She rubbed her eyes for a moment and looked at the boy. "S-So I'm not dreaming eh?" He nodded. She looked around and cringed before dragging him into one of the cubes.
"People were looking at me all weird. Can they see you?" He shook his head. "I don't know how you can. What's your name?" She froze. "How silly of me I didn't even tell you my name." She hit her head a few times. "I am Book." It was Nickel's turn to analyse her. "You don't look like a demon?" She laughed gently. "That's because I'm not! Ya see, I'm a human!"
He tilted his head. "But then how are you evil? How are you the downfall of your own home?" Book sighed and took off her glasses. "This world is a horrible place Nickel. Heck! I'd call it a nightmare! People can be awful. Humans can be awful." He nodded sympathetically. "This world is doomed. Global warming, toxicity, discrimination, pain. That's why you'd know us as demons." She wiped her heterochromatic eyes.
"I'm sorry you had to see this hellhole." He ran to her side and hugged her tightly. "B-But there has to be something good! There has to be something good left!" She shook her head. "Not anymore bud." He pondered for a moment. "Let me show you the good!" He grabbed her arm and glasses and dragged her outside. "Come!" Book wondered how he could be so optimistic in a place like this.
However, she was willing to open both of her blue and green eyes, a second time.
"Look over here! Isn't it stunning?" She giggled as the small angel rolled happily in the grass. "It's grass Nickel." He played around with a small dandelion. "I know! Isn't it wondrous!" He recoiled when the seeds of the dandelion danced away with the push of his excitement. "D-Did I kill it?" He got up and grabbed Book's arm with tears rolling down his cheeks. "No Nickel it's okay! If anything you helped it!" He looked up at her and wiped his eyes. "Really?"
She nodded with a gentle smile. "Those were its seeds. Now they can plant more!" He smiled and wiped his eyes. "That's wondrous!" He clapped in excitement. A strong breeze flew by. A young girl, no older than Book, stumbled across the grass. Her clothes were torn and she tumbled into the creature's gentle embrace and groggily tried to get up.
She let out a horrific scream as two men attempted to pick up the blue girl and drag her away. Book sprung into action, she leaped at the men. She punched one in the nose, temporarily distracting him. The other pulled out a knife and slashed Book on the leg. She shrieked in pain that Nickel wouldn't dare to imagine. He knew he had to do something. He revealed himself, still remaining unnoticed.
He ran behind the man just as he was about to go for a second hit at Book. The two girls were on the grass. Book was unconscious, the other was not. Nickel jumped on top of the second male, throwing him off balance. The steered the man and twisted him around. He jumped off and knocked both the men over in the process. They were both out cold. The monochromatic girl was struck with awe. She clapped with inexplainable gratitude towards her two heroes.
Nickel fell to Book's side. "Book? Book? You can wake up now. The bad guys are gone." She remained still. The girl scooted over and pointed to Book's still bleeding wound. She picked up the man's knife and spelt something in the ground. Blood Loss. He gasped. How could be forget? The humans weren't like him. He wasn't like the humans. Book wasn't pretending to be unconscious. She was. He panicked slightly but remembered what made him different. He could heal.
He took a deep breath and felt his cheeks grow warm. Why was he so nervous? He'd done this before. Was he... In love? Many people talked about it before. They praised it so fondly, it was a gift. He tried again. In and out. He gently placed a kiss on Book's cheek. A light pink aura glowed softly around her immobile body. That was entirely new. It happened to a friend of his. Their healing was different and yet the person still glowed pink. It showed love. Mutual love.
She wearily opened her eyes. "Nickel? Is that you." He smiled lovingly at Book. "Yeah! It's me!" She blinked a few times and picked up her glasses. Nickel didn't notice they fell off, he was more focused on making sure she was okay. She sat herself up and looked at the monochromatic girl. "Teardrop!?" She looked at the blue and green girl and waved.
Nickel helped Book up and picked up Teardrop. "We need to heal her. I can only heal once a human day." Teardrop stared at him with confusion. He sighed and revealed his wings with fear. He was surprised when the blue girl clapped at the sight. She then paused, as if she had a thought. She picked up the knife and carved something into the ground. As if reading Book's mind she wrote, what was the pink aura?
A gentle pink blush gave her the response Teardrop needed while Book remained confused. "What is it? I'm still confused." His blush deepened dramatically. "Uh Book?" She turned her full attention to the angel. "It's... You're helped me a lot since I got to Earth a few hours prior to this dilemma and I..." He hesitated. "I think I managed to fall in love..." Her eyes widened before she violently wiped them. "This isn't a dream..."
Nickel looked down with shame. He stumbled slightly when Book embraced him. "I love you too Nickel! I have since I met you!" She lifted him up and placed a kiss on his cheek. Teardrop clapped and wiped a tear from her eye. "We should probably get you cleaned up." Teardrop looked at her torn clothes and nodded. Book gently placed the angel on the ground has he looked at the lilac sky. Baby blue and lime clouds splotched the sky in an abstract manner. "I don't ever wanna go back." Book looked at him with confusion.
"Why not?"
"Because I'm already at home."
