Chapter Nine: Decision Making (Diggy)

My mom and Mama V went out of town. I can't believe Valeta let her daughter stay home alone. My mom told me she told Viana she could stay at our house but she denied her offer. What the hell? Viana always spent the night at our house. We'd watch movies, play basketball, and cuddle on the couch. Yes we used to cuddle. She's my best friend. It's innocent. I think.

What upset me is when I walked outside to do my Sunday morning walk and when I got to her house she wasn't home. She always walks with me on Sunday mornings. Why is she avoiding me?

"Dig, run to the store for me?" My dad was so glad I had a car now.

It meant saving gas for him and more errands for me. He walked in holding his list.

"Sure dad." I walked outside with his list and I seen Romeo outside kissing my girl. I mean my best friend. Damn. I got in my car and jetted off to the store.

When I got back home Romeo's car was gone. I went in the house and put all my dad's food on the counter and went straight to my room. I didn't intend on talking to anyone for the rest of the night.

Jessica was blowing up my phone so I decided to put it on silent. I looked at the picture of me and Viana on my nightstand. She means the world to me and some other guy was taking up all of her time. Is that why she didn't want to hang anymore? I'm so confused. I have to decide. Do I want my best friend or not?

My brother Russy walked in.

"What's going on with you and Viana?" He looked at me like he already knew the answer.

"Nothing." I lied.

"You love her don't you?" I knew what kind of love he was talking about and it left me speechless.

"We all see it." My brother was serious now.

"What do you mean?" I was a little confused.

"We see the way you guys look at each, or we notice when you guys wake up together, or we see how stressed you get when you don't take to each other, or..."

I cut him off. "I get it Russ."

He didn't seem to believe me so he kept babbling on about how much me and Viana show our real feelings.

Why is it that everyone else but me has noticed this? Has Viana noticed too? Is that why she's acting so weird? Is she even with Romeo? I had to find out for myself. I got off my bed and headed downstairs. My dad stopped me.

"You going next door?" What the hell is up with everybody thinking something's going on between me and Viana?

"Yeah." I closed the door behind me and headed next door. I knocked on the door. I made my decision. I chose Viana.
