I awoke to a small beam of sunshine flowing in through my window. I sat up slowly, playing all the details of yesterday and last night through my mind. I placed a hand over my eyes, taking slow deep breaths to calm myself as I thought about Keith being in the ICU.
I swung my legs over the edge of the bed and placed my head into my hands trying to focus on my breathing.
I placed my hands into my lap and looked down at myself. I was a tad sticky from sweat, making my clothes cling to me. I frowned before sighing and standing up, I needed to shower and get ready for the day.
I stood up and went to my dresser first grabbing a pair of light washed jeans, a bra and pair of panties before heading to the closet, grabbing a gray v-neck t-shirt. I hurried to the bathroom, closing and locking the door before turning on the shower and stripping out of my clothes.
I stopped to take a look at myself in the mirror. I had faint circles under my eyes, my hair was a terrible rats nest and I looked absolutely exhausted. I frowned at my reflection before turning and hopping into the shower.
The warmth of the water cascaded down over my body, bringing a sense of calm over me. I closed my eyes, humming softly to myself before leaning back against the showers wall.
The water pelted my face gently, keeping my focus on how wonderful this felt. I slowly opened my eyes, "Get control Nyx... Keep it together." I murmured to myself as I reached over and grabbed my body sponge and my Orange scented body wash.
I washed myself slowly, inhaling deeply as the entire bathroom filled with the scent of orange. I rinsed and then began the process of washing my thick black hair with My Lemon and Pomegranate shampoo.
After I was satisfied with the amount of shampoo I had lathered into my hair I rinsed it out thoroughly. I never bothered with the conditioner, it never did anything for my hair other than making it feel heavy and greasy. Instead I settled for my garnier hair oil that smelled sweet and citrusy.
I turned off the shower and ran the oil through my hair, hopping out of the shower using one hand to grab my overly plush towel and quickly drying off my body before using it to wrap around my head.
I hurried and dressed, before heading out into the kitchen. I heard the shower from my guest bathroom going and smiled to myself softly knowing that it was Rip.
Once I entered the kitchen I went straight to the coffee maker and got to work.
I grabbed my columbian blend and filled the machine with water, making sure to fill the filter with a quarter cup of grounds. Pressing the start button I went to the fridge, I needed to go shopping today that was for sure.
I had six eggs left, one onion, half a block of cheddar cheese, and a green bell pepper that I could utilize for breakfast.
The rest in the fridge was the chinese takeout leftovers, and miscellaneous odds and ends that would have to be thrown out. I had plenty of coffee creamers, 2 whte chocolate raspberries, 1 chocolate caramel, and a french vanilla.
I pulled out the ingredients that I needed and got to work.
First I chopped up the onion and pepper, setting them off to the side in a bowl before turning my attention to the cheese to grate.
Once that was done I grabbed another bowl and started cracking and beating the eggs.
As I grabbed a frying pan and a stick of butter I heard the guest shower turn off. I hurried and turned on the burner to medium heat and placed a couple tabs of butter into it letting it come to temperature before adding in the eggs, cheese, onion and pepper.
I left it to cook as the coffee maker beeped letting me know that the coffee was brewed. I grabbed two mugs out of the cupboard and a couple plates down onto the counter before placing some slices of bread into the toaster.
I turned back to the eggs, seasoning them with salt, pepper, and some smoked paprika when I heard the bedroom door open and close. I heard Rips footsteps as he padded his way into the kitchen.
My back was to him as I plucked the bread out of the toaster when they popped up.
Finishing everything up I plated up breakfast and poured the coffee into the mugs. I turned towards Rip and blushed. There he stood, leaning against the counter in just a towel. His hair was wet, causing small droplets of water to fall onto his perfectly sculpted chest.
"U-Uhm I wasn't sure how you took your coffee, but I have a couple different options of creamers in the fridge if you want any. I also have sugar and milk too." I shifted my weight before grabbing his plate and setting it next to him, "I hope you like it. I have to head into town to get some more groceries, so if you don't like it I won't be offended." I smiled up at him.
He chuckled and leaned down to brush his lips against mine before pulling away winking at me, "I'm sure it'll be delicious. Thanks for the breakfast."
With that I turned quickly, grabbing my coffee and food and sitting at the table to eat.
We let the silence fill my home, focusing only on the food and coffee in front of us.
Once I finished my food I placed my dishes in the sink and turned to look at RIp. He was sitting at the counter watching me with a smirk on his face.
I smiled, "Well I've gotta go. Feel free to make yourself at home. I've got leftover chinese in the fridge if you want any along with some Mikes. Washer and Dryer are in the garage if you need anything cleaned and I'm always logged into my netflix account." I walked over to him, leaning against the counter.
He wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me towards him before kissing me. I wrapped my arms around his neck, deepening the kiss further as I parted my lips welcoming his tongue.
We stayed like that for a few moments before he pulled back, "Be safe. Text me when you get there okay? I'll clean up here and see if my VP can grab my things from my place and bring it over."
I nodded, "Okay. Don't burn my house down please, took me forever to get the stupid thing renovated."
He chuckled, "I won't burn it down I promise."
With that I grabbed my keys and my shoes and headed off into town.
