As their sixth year at Hogwarts begins, Annalise Wood and James Sirius Potter are at the peak of their rivalry. To say they hated eachother would be an understatement.
Although sometimes they brought out the worst in eachother, they also brought out...

"JAMES!" SHE YELLED, spotting him ahead of her, walking down the corridor.
James whipped around, hearing his name, and his eyes landed on her. "Wait up!" She called, as she quickly jogged over to where he was standing.
"What's up." He asked, as the two of them walked together.
"I've been meaning to talk to you about this all day, but I never found the right time." She explained. "Asher likes Roxy!"
James eyes widened. "Where the hell did you get that idea from!" He stuttered, attempting to play it off.
She rolled her eyes, knowing she had done the same thing yesterday when Asher had asked if Roxy liked Alex. "I figured it out yesterday and Asher admitted it." She chuckled, seeing the panicked expression on James' face slowly fade away. "You're a horrible liar by the way."
James rolled his eyes. "You took me by surprise."
"The point is, do you understand how big of a problem this is!" Annalise shrieked.
"Why are girls so over dramatic!" James sighed dramatically. "Nothing's going to change. I've known about Roxy and Asher's crushes since forever. It's always been fine."
"No, it's not fine!" Annalise looked at him in disbelief, since he wasn't understanding the severity of the situation. "Roxy's been waiting for Alex to ask her to the winter ball, and he's not going to ask her because Asher fancies her! Either way, one of them is going to be crushed. There's no win win."
James frowned, furrowing his eyebrows. "Ok, you're right. Maybe not the most ideal situation."
"Not the most ideal?" She gaped at him. "More like it's a horrible situation!"
James sighed. "It sucks I know, but Alex wouldn't have asked Roxy to the ball, even if Asher didn't like her."
"You don't know that." She protested. "There's a good chance he could have!"
James stopped abruptly, looking her right in the eye. "Annalise, I know Alex better then everyone. I've said this before, but Alex won't ever see Roxy that way. Me and him have talked about this before."
She frowned, her hopes crushed. "I feel bad for Roxy."
James nodded. "I do too, but there's nothing you can do. You just have to let it go, and see how it ends up."
She nodded grudgingly, and the two of them began walking again. James was right. It was a bad situation, but she couldn't force anyone's feelings. She just had to let it go and be there for her friend when she needed her.
"Anyway, speaking of the winter ball." James spoke up, shoving his hands into the pockets of his robe. Annalise held her breathe. Time for the dreaded conversation she had avoided bringing up for a while. Now that James has mentioned it, she really wished she had listened to her friends and been the one to bring it up.
