Although sometimes they brought out the worst in eachother, they also brought out...

ANNALISE AWOKE THAT MORNING to the shouts of "happy birthday!" and Talia and Roxy jumping on top of her, jolting her out of her deep sleep. She struggled to sit up on her bed with her friends smothering her with hugs, trying to adjust her eyes to the morning light after she was so abruptly woken up.
It was her seventeenth birthday. The day she would finally be of age and considered an adult in the wizarding world. She could get her apparition license, legally drink firewhisky, and do magic outside of Hogwarts without the threat of getting expelled. It was going to be a great year to say the least. She smiled brightly at her two friends sitting on her bed with her, pulling them in once again for a hug.
"Open your gifts!" Roxy said excitedly, gesturing to the two wrapped boxes on her bed.
"When did you even wrap these?" Annalise asked, grabbing the first box, which was wrapped in scarlet wrapping paper, topped with a gold bow.
"Over break." Roxy answered. "That one's from me."
Annalise ripped the wrapping paper off hastily. She wasn't the type of person to neatly take off the paper. After all, the point of wrapping paper is to rip it off. She opened the folds of the cardboard box, pulling out a navy blue and gold Puddlemere United hoodie.
"Oh my god!" Annalise squealed, clutching the hoodie and bringing it towards her face. "It's so soft!"
"I remember you being pissed off because Cal stole your favorite Puddlemere hoodie." Roxy chuckled.
"Pissed off is an understatement." She snorted, leaning to give Roxy another hug. "Thank you so much." She smiled at her friend.
"Open mine!" Talia exclaimed, handing Annalise the other wrapped box. Annalise chuckled, ripping off the wrapping paper once more. Inside the box was an assortment of her favorite sweets and treats from honeydukes. Her mouth watered from just looking at the delicious candy inside.
"You got all my favorites!" Annalise's eyes widened in genuine appreciation, turning to Talia with a big smile on her face.
"Of course!" Talia scoffed, jokingly offended that Annalise would think otherwise. "I know you so well."
Annalise smiled happily at both her friends, giving them both another hug. "Thank you both so much." She said sincerely, touched that her friends knew exactly what she wanted.
She glanced at the clock, noting that she still had plenty of time before breakfast. "I'm going to head to Asher's room and then I'll meet you back here for breakfast." She told her friends. "What did you get Asher for his birthday?" She asked Roxy, a teasing smile on her face.
"It's a secret." Roxy answered sheepishly. "You'll figure it out later." Annalise nodded, winking at her friend before heading off to quickly take a shower. She got ready quickly, throwing on her school uniform and robes before grabbing Ashers present, dashing out of her room and up the stairs to the boys dormitory. She didn't bother knocking on the door, as she marched into Asher's room. Alex was still in bed, rolling around while Asher was standing in front of the mirror, tying his tie. James was nowhere to be found.
