Chapter twenty eight

I pick up my phone and go to Colby's name I close my eyes and take a deep breathe I hit the call bottom and put it to my ear "Hello" he says "hey Colby" I say and bite my lip from crying "Tessa" he says I nod "ya it's me look I don't have much time but I—" I say "I don't care you haven't called in a month I've been worried why did you do it" he says I close my eyes I feel a tear go down my cheek I wipe it away "I did it because I love you and I always will no matter what" I say "I have a feeling there's going to be a but" he says "but I can't risk anything happening or anyone worrying about me just know I'm ok I'm fine I will figure this out but I think we need to take a break" I say my voice cracking "Tessa don't please let us help you" he says I lean my head back on my bed frame and shake my head "I can't I need to do this on my own Colby don't make this any hard then what it already is" I say he's quiet for a bit "Colby say something please" I say "if that's what you want" he says no I don't but it's for the best "ya it's what I want" I say "I love you Tessa and I always will" he says "goodbye Colby" I say and hang up I grip my phone tight as I pull it away and burst into tears my grip loosens and my phone falls "what did I just do" I mumble what did I just do I close my eyes and try to calm down but it's useless I feel arms wrap around me I don't care who it's is I lean into the person I end up falling asleep soon after.

I wake up and look behind me Jordan it was him last night "I know what your thinking" he says I look away "yes I heard the conversation no I didn't just come here out of pitty" he says I don't say anything or look at him "I know" I say I turn to look at him "I'm sorry" he says I look at him confused "for what" I say "having you do that I should have made you choose" he says I shake my head "no it wasn't you it was me I decided to because I couldn't risk his safety again because of me so I let him go" I say he looks at me "but right now let's take things slow" I say he nods "ya take as long as you need" he says he brings his arms out I go closer and he wraps me in his grasp "you know we need to tell the others about everything right" he says I nod "I will but not right now" I say "alright" he says we stay like that for awhile "get your asses up John as an announcement" Madison says I turn to look at her "alright we'll be down in a bit" I say she nods "ok hurry up" she says I nod she leaves I look at him "I guess we half to get up" I say he looks at me "or do we" he says "we half too or John will serve our heads in a silver platter" I say "ok you have a point" he says I get up and go to my closet "hey so if your after Ryder why go after John" He says I look at him "because Ryder's working with him he's has been after me my whole life and I can get revenge for what he did to my dad and my mom" I say he nods "why did you act weird when I told you about the genes" I say and go back to picking out my clothes he looks at me "later" he says I give him this look "why not now" I say "because you half to get ready and I half to go down there" he says "whatever" I say he laughs a little "well I'll see you down there" he says I finally pick out an outfit I go to the bathroom and change I then straighten my hair after I do that I do my make up (outfit up top) I go back to my room and slip on my white vans I then grab my phone and head downstairs.

"Everyone's here now we can get started" John says I go stand next to Jordan "I know you guys are wondering what the announcement is but it's actually a mission for you six" he says I look at him "everyone else can go" he says they all leave "as you might know someone escaped from here a couple months ago and he went off the grid" he says he sets the file down "so you want us to find this guy and do what exactly bring him back here" Noah says "it's not going to be easy but you guys are going to half to go under cover the last I heard he was a teacher at your guys old high school" he says I look at the file I look at the picture it's my father "from what we can gather he's a father of a son and married for a second time" he says I look through the file nothing much to go from just that he has a new family and completely forgot about me and Kat clever move dad "I want you guys to find him and bring him back here or kill him whatever I don't care just get rid of him" he says we nod "Tessa can I talk to you" John says I nod and go to his office "I know that's your father but he betrayed you he never came home to you and your sister after he escaped he started a new family a new life" he says I nod "I know which is why I'm going to end him" I say he nods "good now get going" he says I leave and go back to the living room "so are we really going to go back to school for the last couple months" Madison says I nod "yep we are going to get this done whatever it takes" I say Jordan looks at me "what changed in you" Cole says I look at Jordan he nods a little I look back at the others "I'll tell you but not here" I say "come on" I say and we go to the movie room and I start to explain everything.
