"Flight 204 to Baltimore boarding now, please have your passes ready." the intercom spoke. I was nervous about this, I was the manager of a new corporation and moving to a new city, a new environment than what I'm used to.
To be truthful I wasn't nervous because of ONLY that. I had a dream about the day I woke up without Alex there. I guess it was more of a memory so to say, he lives in Baltimore. I told him that I want nothing to do with him anymore. What if I run into him? Oh gosh, he's gonna hate me.
"Miss?" I snapped my head up to look at the flight attendant and smiled.
"Is there anything you would like?" She asked. She had a big smile on her face and her hands tightly clasped together. I would say that she most likely hated her job, but I'm not one to judge.
"A water please." She walked away and I laid my head back against the seat and tried to at least get some sleep, but a poke on my shoulder snapped me out of it.
In front of me I saw a little girl, she was wearing a polka dot dress and flats and had her hair half up. "Excuse me?" She said softly. She seemed so sweet.
"Yes sweetheart?" I said. My full attention was on her, she looked so scared and I knew why, this is probably her first time flying out somewhere.
"Can I sit next to you?" She didn't need to ask twice, I just simply nodded and the smile on her face was so wide, I knew it made her happy.
"What's your name?" She asked making conversation. "I'm Gwen," I introduced "what about you?" I asked politely. She smiled and got comfortable in her seat. "I'm Kelly!" She beamed.
"That's such a pretty name, what're you flying out to Baltimore for Kelly?" I knew I probably shouldn't pry. Who am I kidding I shouldn't be prying at all, having a conversation with a little girl on a plane was truly weird, half the people probably thought I was really good with children, like a school teacher. The other half probably thought it was either sad or creepy that I chose to make conversation with a little girl.
"I'm flying out to see my uncle Nate." She answered. As she was talking and going on and on, I noticed a guy with similar hair and body type of Jack. Oh my gosh! Don't tell their on the same flight as me too! I can accept the fact that they live in Baltimore, but do they really have to be on the same flight as me.
"Why are you on this flight?" She asked and poked me. I smiled and looked down at her. "My dad owns a big corporation and asked me to work as the manager in Baltimore, so I'm moving to Baltimore for work" I explained.
"Well congratulations on the new job." I heard from above me. I looked up and my suspicions were answered when I saw Jack standing in front of me.
"Thank you." I answered simply. I didn't really want to talk right now, I was scared that he would go back to Alex and tell him I'm on this flight as well. And I didn't want to risk that, I didn't even want to see Alex to begin with and now I'm on the same flight as them.
He sat down making himself comfortable and turned to the little girl. "Hi I'm Jack, Gwen's friend." He introduced and held out his hand. She took his hand and shook. "I'm Kelly. It's nice to meet you sir." She was so polite, it was honestly adorable.
"The pleasure is all mine Kelly, I have to get back to my friends now." He said and stood up.
"I'll be back to visit." He said and walked away. It made me partially nervous, I meant the worst that could happen is that he brings back Alex to see me, but I don't think he would do such a thing.
"He seems nice, I like him." Kelly said. I laughed and nodded "he's pretty cool huh?" She nodded and laid down on my shoulder.
"I like you to Gwen." She whispered. Before I could thank her and I felt her relax against my arm and I guess she fell asleep.
I looked up and saw Jack walking through a door and sitting down again near me and smiling. This guy just won't give up will he? I couldn't necessarily be mean when he was nothing but nice to me. I guess I just wasn't as trusting as I should be.
"Told you I'd be back." He said as he glanced down at Kelly. She was sound asleep on my shoulder.
"Never doubted it." I said. It was quiet, but a question was nagging my conscious. Did Alex know I was on the same flight as him? I knew I should've asked Jack, but I didn't know how to put it. Do I ask about Alex? Probably not, then he'll be suspicious. It seemed that being blunt was the way to ask him.
"Please tell me Alex doesn't know I'm on this flight." I begged. He smiled and zipped his lips. "He doesn't know a thing, I promise." He reassured.
It wasn't all that expected that my whole Baltimore living would stay a secret. People would eventually find out, and Jack wouldn't just stop talking to me, he's secretly seeing me on the plane and checking up on me so it was a blooming friendship. I was pretty happy about that honestly.

"I'm so sorry about her." Kelly's mom apologized. I don't know why she was apologizing, it wasn't like she was screaming bloody murder for three hours, I had no problem.
"There's no need to apologize Heidi, I promise, she's an angel." I said and grabbed my bag from baggage claim.
"Thank you again." She said and hugged me. Before I could respond she walked away holding Kelly's hand. It was sweet.
I looked ahead and I swear I thought I saw Alex walking ahead of me. I just wanted to go up and hug him, but I couldn't, I was still "mad" at him. I wasn't mad, I was hurt. I just didn't know how else to handle it.
"GWEN!" I looked and saw my mom walking and waving her hands through the crowd with occasional "don't touch me" and "excuse you" I rolled my eyes and walked towards her. "Hi mom." I greeted and hugged her.
"Alright c'mon! Your father and I have a surprise for you! You're gonna love. We have to hurry though, he's waiting." She said as she pulled me through the crowd.
I looked back and didn't see any sign of what I thought was Alex and sighed. I don't know why I bothered to look back behind me. He wouldn't be there because he left.
He always leaves.
