CHAPTER TWO

Celebration

"Do they have a phlegm on their brain?!" Mommy spat on the other line. "Their company must stop to operate! Ha! They can't even pick their models correctly!"

She is now being hysterical. On her dark blue fitted dress with her pearls on her neck and fancy stiletto she looked like a queen in a palace in the middle of the fracas.

"Puñeta!" She whinned.

"They must announce the theme first!

"Mom, it's all fine. I'm sure this isn't the last..." Pampalubag loob ko.

"No hija, we can't let this opportunity pass just like that! Malapit na iyong inaabangan nating fashion week and this could add to your credentials!"

She picked the cabernet glass with amber colored liquid on the table beside her.

We had this audition for the upcoming issue next month, but sadly I didn't meet the qualification they require. The dominant part is to emphasize the look of a young Filipina in this generation. Hindi ako iyon. I don't even know what my nationality is, my Mom is a half American and Latina while my Dad was half Filipino and Moroccan, it's united nations.

"I can't even!"

"Kung wala pang mahanap na audition Mommy, I can work on our restaurants for the mea—"

"No!" the veins on her temporal was quiet visible.

"Just for the mean time—"

"I said no Camila,"

I quiet remember when I was three she showed me some pictures from vogue magazines, she told me that someday she'll bought a copy of that magazine not because she wants it but she needs to, because it's her daughter's issue. I kind of eavesdrop this the other time, she's telling her amigas' that one day, they'll flip the magazines' pages and my black and white portrait would be there.

I was feeling blue, hindi ko nakuha ang project na iyon. Sayang.

"Barbara we're in front of the food," Si Daddy ng sinaway si Mommy dahil hanggang dinner ay dala niya ang sama ng loob sa nangyari!

"What?! Rodrigo? Sayang iyon!"

"If you have enough trust to Camila you know this is not the end, our daughter have potentials, I'm sure there are better projects na naghihintay sa kaniya."

"Keep striving anak, you're doing great.
