Chapter 46: Finale

Waking up to the sun shining in a comfy bed next to Vic has got to be the best way to wake up. We took our time before actually getting out of bed because we have no schedule to our day. So after cuddling and whispering sweet nothings to each other for about 45 minutes Vic decided that we should get out of bed so he could make me breakfast.

Sitting at the table eating eggs and bacon I didn’t even feel the least bit guilty. Something about being here in this house, with Vic, made me feel so okay.

After breakfast we had a shower together and got ready to go to the town, Vic insisted that I wear one of my dresses because he said they “Make me look beautiful on a whole-nether-level.” I picked out my favourite back one with a fluffy skirt that had a red top. I didn’t really care that all my leg scars were showing, because Vic told me countless times that he doesn’t care how they look, and that he loves me for who I am. Vic was wearing some cute beige shorts with a black dress shirt. We were both doing our hair in the mirror and I couldn’t stop smiling because I just thought that this is how things should be.

The taxi let us out in the core of downtown. Vic took my hand and began walking towards somewhere that he said is his favourite place. The downtown here is so much better than at home, the people look friendlier, its sunnier, and just everything seems nice.

Vic and I were walking for about 15 minutes before we came up to a large open park/field thing. It’s beautiful here; there were trees all planted along-side a large pond.  When we walked closer to the pond I noticed that there were fish all around and there was  a fun looking fountain in the middle.

“This was always my favourite place to come growing up” Vic reminisced.

“It’s beautiful” I said still looking around.

We walked over to a near-by bench and sat down for awhile.

It had probably been close to an hour before Vic decided that we should walk back to town and go for lunch. We found this cute little home style diner with the sweetest old lady running it. She told us that we looked cute together and that made me blush way too much because it’s still so hard for me to believe that I’m dating the best man on the planet and that he loves me.

Vic and I both ordered turkey burgers, but he got a side of fries and I settled for a salad. The food was delicious and I ate all of my meal. I’ve decided that even if I don’t want to eat, I have to just to see the proud look and smile Vic gives me at the end. His happiness makes recovery worth it. We sat in the diner sipping warm drinks for about half an hour after our meal just chatting about what it’s going to be like living here.

When we left the diner we decided to just window shop and wander around. It was so much fun, and I didn’t once think for a second that I missed living on the hell of an island. I mean sure I miss my mom, but I know that I will get to see her often enough and being here with Vic is all I will ever need to be happy.

After a fun day out in the city Vic decided that it was time to go home. I could’ve probably stayed downtown looking around all night, but Vic seemed like he wanted to go back to his place, well I guess it’s our place now. Oh that is just so fun to say ‘our place’, the sound of it just makes me feel so happy.
