(The beginning is inspired by a MDZS post I saw the other day and I enjoyed writing this one so much 😁)

The juniors and WangXian were at a local night hunt for the nearby cultivators who wished to participate. Wei Ying being Wei Ying decided to mess with them as he did all those years ago and played Chenqing to chase away the spirits around all of the cultivators except the Lan disciples. The few cultivators who didn't know Wei Ying had given him questioning looks and afraid glances but those who did strode up to him at the end with angered faces.

"You have done it again Wei Wuxian! Leading all of the prey away leaving us to fight each other for targets. I hate you Wei Wuxian!"

"Well guess what? I hate myself too! A lot! Everyday! So you aren't anything special." Wei Ying argued before turning and walking away from the cultivator whose name he didn't know nor felt bothered to learn.

"Wei Ying we've talked about this." Lan Zhan spoke as he gave a withering glare to the cultivator who was about to attack Wei Ying from the back.

"All I spoke was the truth." he said as he walked over to the listening disciples.

"Let's go before him or his friends decide to start a fight with the Lan clan. I'd rather there be no bloodshed today." Wei Ying said with a small smile and started to herd the juniors back to the Cloud Recesses.

All along the journey, Wei Ying walked by his husband with a dull expression. Lan Zhan knew when he got like this it was best to give him some comfort but not advice, so he gave a small pat on the younger's shoulder getting a laugh at his attempt in return. The disciples whispered amongst themselves at senior Wei's words and how even the happiest seeming person can have a dark side.

Once they entered the Cloud Recesses the juniors all went to the study hall to write a report on their captures for Hanguang-jun to mark later on. The duo spent the next hour with the bunnies on the back of the hill, enjoying the calm ambience.

When the bell rang, Wei Ying and Lan Zhan made their way back to the juniors who sat with perfect posture at their desks as they listened to Lan Qiren's lecture on righteousness. The pair say down at a table just behind Qiren so he couldn't see their faces. Well, Wei Wuxian's face.

As the lecture passed Wei Ying almost fell asleep a grand total of five times and had to be nudged awake by his husband who was as stoic and poised as ever.

Wei Ying sighed slightly thinking of when he came here to study from Lan Qiren. A grin came over his face as he had an idea to spice things up a little. He looked over to Qiren and moved his body into the same position with his head bent down as he stared right at the juniors. He then began to mime the words Qiren spoke, put on a serious and stern face and stroked his imaginary beard.

Some of the juniors at the front, including Sizhui and JingYi noticed him and had to stifle their laughs as they watched. Every time he pointed at them he gave a wink then gazed intensely into the air as he stroked his imaginary beard like he was looking at something he despised.

More and more juniors began to notice and soon the room was filled with juniors holding their hands over their mouths to stop their laughter. JingYi kept trying to look away but couldn't help watch senior Wei as he mocked Lan Qiren. The other disciples were holding their stomachs as they leaned forwards in their seats to contain their laughter.

"Proper posture at all times! Never misbehave!" Qiren shouted and the juniors immediately fell silent as they looked at their lecturer with blank faces. Even Wei Ying did the same thing, and just in time as Qiren turned around to look at him and gave a deathly stare at the serious behaviour.
