(More angst up now 😬)

The group all walked through the forest in an effortless silence. Their footsteps made no sound upon the leaves and branches, their forms moving swiftly through the bushes and trees. Their weapons raised and eyes alert.

They had come by this forest following the rumours of an evil entity that scared away all life. It had an insatiable desire but nobody knew what for. No-one knew what form the entity took but were prepared for the worst to occur. Or so they thought.

After a few hours of walking silently through the forest, one of them signalled for the group to halt. A male lifted his hand, commanding stillness, before taking a few steps forwards and moving his hand to the shadowy darkness in front of him. In a second the fog had cleared and a giant silhouette loomed in front of them. The male waved his hand, advising the group to move backwards whilst he pulled out a blank piece of paper. He drew some blood from another male's sword and swiped his fingers along the paper. He flung the talisman out at the immobile entity, the paper disappearing into the darkness.

A moment later, sparks of flames appeared from where the talisman was sent before the paper was returned to the man's palms. He looked down at the altered writing, his eyes widening before he turned his head to the group, fear on his face that made everybody afraid.

"Run." he spoke quietly.

Instantly the juniors in the group turned and ran, returning along their path through the forest without looking back: they knew that when they were ordered by the male they were to follow without question. It was always for their safety.

The older males however, hesitated for a second, wanting to ask what the problem was. But, after seeing the rare pure fear on the male's face, they too turned and disappeared. Only two were left and, after making a silent decision, pulled out two instruments. The flute and guqin played effortlessly together, their harmonies weaving in and out of each other. The flute spoke to the entity, asking to understand it's single desire whilst the guqin tamed the evil spirits from appearing. As the played they walked backwards, trying to lure the entity out into the light. However, they didn't move too fast, they didn't want the others to get caught up.

Suddenly, the silhouette reached a limb out and time seemed to freeze. One second they were in control and the next they weren't. When the man blinked he found he was no longer in the forest but in some sort of clearing on some sort of hill. His eyes shot around him- taking in his surroundings with shock- as he realised where he was. Once he returned to his location he saw the rest of the group were all tied up and kneeling on the ground opposite him.

He looked down and saw that his hands were tied in front of him, his flute discarded too far out of his reach. He looked up and made contact with piercing gold eyes but found that they mirrored his confusion. He calmed his thoughts and began to focus on how he could get them out of here. From him being separated it was clear the entity wanted him and from the ruined talisman in his hand he knew it wasn't good.

"Wei Wuxian." the entity spoke, its form moving closer and closer until it was towering over the kneeling male.

"Wen Chao." Wei Wuxian greeted, his voice calm to show his lack of concern. "So, whatever was left of you manifested itself into this, a shapeless spirit."

"A strong spirit who wants revenge!" Wen Chao shouted.

"Revenge? I thought we were even. You tortured me and threw me into the burial mounds to die and I made you go insane before dying by evil spirits."

"No!"

"No? It simply sounds like karma to me. There is no need to lurk about and manifest revenge just for me. However, I am flattered."
