(My take on a scene from the live action enjoy 😁)

The young cultivators were all lined up in the stone courtyard, at the bottom of the grand staircase upon which the peacock Wen Chao was striding along. He smirked at the group, enjoying their angered faces when asked to give up their swords. He loved seeing their anguish when they knew they couldn't do anything about it.

"Now, I hope you have all learned the book off by heart. Who will volunteer to recite it first?"

"I will!" Wei Ying volunteered confidently before walking out of the group and pacing up and down at the bottom of the steps. He took his time stretching for no reason and enjoyed watching Wen Chao grow more frustrated and angry by the second.

"Get on with it!" he ordered.

"Alright. Calm down." he spoke with a grin causing Wen Chao to become even more furious.

"Well first one must always..." he began to recite the laws.

However, the more he spoke, the more everyone realised that he wasn't reciting the rules of the Wen clan but of the Lan clan instead. The teens' eyes widened in disbelief at how daring Wei Wuxian was and they tried to stifle their laughs at the shaking Wen Chao.

"Fifth, you must have proper etiquette when-"

"Enough!" Wen Chao roared.

"Really? But I've only just started and I'm sure there are a few thousand more." Wei Ying spoke, holding his chin as a thoughtful expression came over his face.

"You think you are so funny? You think you are above me? Above the Wen sect?"

Wei Wuxian laughed a little before speaking:

"If I answer yes, then you will get even angrier, which is not good for me. If I say no, then you will feel satisfied, which is also not good for me. So I answer you this: I don't allow anybody to disrespect my friends." he declared, gesturing to the group around him.

"Really? Well, let me show you what happens when you decide to stand up against the sun! Then you will see the consequences of being a hero." Wen Chao said with a smirk.

With the flick of his wrist, several soldiers came out of nowhere and detained Wei Ying. Wen Chao looked pleased but his small smile of triumph soon disappeared as he saw the teen made no effort to try and escape as he thought he would.

"A hero?" Wei Ying asked with a frown. "No, I'm not a hero. I'm just doing the right thing, something you need a lesson in."

Wen Chao glowered in fury and a soldier punched Wei Ying in the side of the face. With his head facing the side, he spat out a small amount of blood before staring defiantly up at Wen Chao.

The other teens looked at Wei Ying in upmost respect at how he was standing up against Wen Chao. They each secretly wished that they had Wei Wuxian's bravery.

"Fine, then we'll show you the consequences for 'doing the right thing'. Take him down there, I'll be along in a moment." Wen Chao ordered with an evil grin.

Several soldiers had to grab Wei Ying and force him to move. The group all glanced at him and gave him nods of respect as he passed by but Wei Ying paid them no attention. He knew that if he did then Wen Chao would see and punish them as well.

But, when he approached Lan Zhan time seemed to slow slightly. It seemed to take several moments for them to pass by each other and Wei Ying saw the worry hidden in Lan Zhan's eyes.

"It's okay." he whispered inaudibly to the older, who's face had returned back to its cold expression.

He passed Jiang Cheng who seemed to be fidgeting on the spot as he decided whether or not to speak up. As their eyes met Wei Ying gave him the smallest shake of his head, trying to tell him that he needed to stay here and protect the others. Jiang Cheng seemed to get the message as he became still and looked determined.

The soldiers dragged Wei Ying down a large set of stairs and down many corridors before a smaller and worn down set of stairs appeared.

"Welcome to Hell." one of the soldiers whispered menacingly into his ear.

Wei Ying's face looked indifferent as they dragged him down the stairs and towards a heavily bolted wooden door. He could feel that something horrid was behind the door and a small, involuntary shiver of fear ran through him. The group of soldiers laughed to each other before hauling open the heavy door and throwing him inside.

His body rolled several times on the floor before it slammed into a rough stone wall. He felt a pounding erupt in his head; he reached up and felt blood on the back of his skull. With difficulty his eyes moved over to the door just as it slammed closed, leaving him in almost pitch black darkness.

His body shook as he stood up and looked around the room. In the corner the shadows gathered and he feared what was hiding there. On the walls were several sets of rusted shackles and blood-coated instruments used for torture. Despite his usual confident exterior, now he was scared and it showed.

He continued to look around the large dungeon-like room when he saw something shift in the corner of his eye. He flung himself around and peered with squinting eyes into the darkness. Within moments his eyes enlarged and he pressed himself into the wall as if he wanted to sink into it. The gathering darkness wasn't made of shadows but of thick black fur which stood several meters tall. And in the centre of the fur was a pair of gleaming, bright red eyes full of blood lust.

It was a massive black dog, a horrifying and unnatural beast, that looked ready to tear him to pieces...
