(My take on a typical AU because why not 😂)
Xiao Zhan: the owner of the tattoo studio Untamed Inks, a single man who was an open bisexual and an incredible artist. He flirted with any cute boys or girls that he saw and his studio had great business. People usually had to wait months to get a booking.
Wang Yibo: a part-time worker at the florist across the road called Lulu's Blooms. He was in his last year at university studying literature and was a closeted gay, only his brother knew.
It was a sunny Wednesday afternoon when the bell jingled above the door signalling a new customer. Xiao Zhan shouted for Zoey, his friend and co-worker, to greet them as he was finishing a tattoo on his recent customer. It was a beautiful flower design and had a sword and guqin crossing through them. It had taken three appointments but it looked awesome on his left arm.
"There, all done." he said with a proud smile at his work before showing it to the customer.
"It's incredible. Thanks Zhan." Liu Hai Kuan thanked and looked at his new tattoo with amazement. "Wait 'til I show my brother."
"Hey, before I wrap it up, can I take a picture for the socials?" Zhan asked as he pulled out his phone.
"Sure."
"Thanks."
He took the picture, wrapped up the tattoo, instructed on how to care for the tattoo, then waved goodbye as Liu Hai Kuan left the studio. He looked at the clock and realised this person was the last booking for the day; he smiled when he thought of going home and sleeping for the rest of the evening.
He had barely slept the last few days as he had thought of a new tattoo idea in his head and wanted to put it down on paper. However, every time he drew it he thought it didn't look quite right and ended up throwing the design in the bin. Finally, after a whole week of creative turmoil he had done it.
All that was left now was for a customer to tattoo it on. He thought about having the tattoo himself and considered getting it with someone significant.
"What can I do for you today?" Xiao Zhan asked as he set out new sterilised equipment. "Do you want a consultation or do you already have a tattoo in mind?" he asked with his back turned from the customer.
"Um, actually I'm here on behalf of someone else." a shy voice spoke from the doorway.
Zhan turned around and was shocked to see a boy- a very cute boy- a few years younger than him, looking a little scared. His eyes looked round at all of the equipment and art that covered the walls and all of the tattoo's on Xiao Zhan's body.
"Sit down." he spoke gently and gestured to the seat opposite him. "Who are you here on behalf of?"
"My boss. She runs the florist I work at across the road." the boy explained and kept making accidental eye-contact with the older.
"You work for Lulu? What's your name?"
"My name is Wang Yibo. You're Xiao Zhan, the owner?"
"Yeah."
"My boss talks about you a lot. She sent me here to ask if you could make some floral designs for a tattoo since it's her birthday soon."
"And she didn't come herself because?"
"She said she wants it to be a surprise."
"Alright then. Tell her I'll have some designs next week, that cool?"
"Okay, thankyou."
"No problem kid. Hey, are you thinking of getting a tattoo?" Zhan asked with a grin.
