Chapter 16

"What are the other Serpents saying?" Jug asks Toni as we, plus Fangs and Sweet Pea, walk down the hall
"Some people give you props for challenging the Ghoulies to a race and beating them. Others hate that you cut a deal with Keller because it puts us in bed with the pigs"
"I didn't that was Archie"
"Yeah we know that but some of them don't" Sweet Pea says. Toni stops and looks over at the cops
"What the hell is this another raid?"
"Didn't you hear?" Fangs says
"They caught the sugar man" Sweets says pulling me close. Mr Phillips starts yelling while looking at me
"This is all your fault you couldn't keep your damn mouth shut" Fangs steps in front of me
"You'll regret telling them about the tutoring" he yells as he leaves the school. I sigh
"Thanks Pea, I know you hate the police as much as I do but thank you"
"It's ok baby"
"What happened? Did you find out he was the sugar man?" Jug asks
"No"

"Ella I'm so sorry. You should have come to one of us as soon as he mentioned it" Sweet Pea says as he sits down on my couch
"I know but how was I supposed to say 'hey Pea you know our English teacher yeah he asked me to sleep with him so I can get good grades" I sit next to him "as soon as we started getting serious I stopped it I promise, but he threatened to keep me behind a year and also he said I would be dead"
"Listen to me, Fangs, Toni and Jug will help. I promise"

"No problem Ella" Pop puts down our milkshakes, Betty taking a Strawberry, Jug and I taking a Vanilla each. Jug had managed to drag me to Pops to help them solve the Black hood mystery
"So what did you find? Any truth to what that creepy truck driver said about that murdered family" Jug had gone on a job the other day with Archie, the truck driver mentioned something that of course made my brother go all Sherlock Holmes on the whole black hood situation. I helped him out a little because if I didn't he wouldn't have slept
"Yes shockingly Freddy Krueger didn't lie to me" Jug pulls out a news paper clipping from his jacket
"A family of four was murdered by someone press called the riverdale reaper" I say crossing my arms at Betty and sliding down the booth seats to get more comfortable "the victims were Jim and Mary Ellen Conway and their kids"
"Tommy was ten and sue was nine" Jug breaths out "the reaper was never caught or identified"
"Meaning he could possibly be the black hood" I look at Betty and give her a weak smile
"Why did he do it? Why did he kill them?" Betty asks looking confused
"A reporter of the article talked to a sheriff at the time who thought the killer chose at random or because their house was isolated"
"Where was it?"
"Edge of fox forest down a service road" I sit up and lean over the table
"Here's a picture of it" Jughead shows her the newspaper clippings
"Betty I know what your thinking and it's not a good idea to go. Don't go"
"Guys I've already been to this house. The black hood sent me to it as part of his game" I lean back and say under my breath
"Shit"
"Well then there's definitely a link to the black hood and the killer. We should talk to Keller pull the files from the murders" Jughead copies the position I'm in leaning across the table. The conversation goes on about weather they should go to Keller or not then we argue about how going to the house is a bad idea and we agree not to go, when Jugs phone rings.

"We have an announcement to make" Jughead yells getting everyone's attention in the Wyrm "take it away El"
"Our dads getting out" the Serpents clap and cheer
"And when he does Ella and I will bring him up to speed with our plans with mayor McCoy" I walk over to Sweet Pea who pulls me on to his lap
"That's brilliant" I look over to see an intoxicated Tall Boy
"You have a problem with that Tall Boy?"
"Your old man no. I got no problem with him. But you want us to sit down with the mayor"
"Tall Boy calm down" I say between gritted teeth, Sweet Pea rubbing circles on my waist with the hand he tightly has gripped on my waist
"I think we can bring the Southside back but it's gonna take some work and it's going to take compromise" Talk Boy laughs
"Bring the Southside back? You've been here all of five minutes"
"Yeah well I haven't" I get up from Pea's lap "I've been loyal to the Serpents for the last 10 years and you know it"
"What about when you had your little rendezvous with the leader of the Ghoulies? Where was your loyalty then?"
"Tall Boy" Jug snapped as Sweet Pea stands up pulling me behind him as I glare at Tall Boy
"I am sick of you acting like a little bitch. Whispering behind my back that I'm half a Serpent or that I don't belong here. That Ella should have been kicked out when you were the one who tried to help cover up what happened yet your willing to make a deal with the Ghoulies. Your a hypocrite. Let's put it to a vote"
"All those who stand with Jughead and think Tall Boy should shut the hell up?" Toni stands up putting her hand in the air. We all do the same and Tall Boy walks out of the Wyrm. Sweet Pea and I return to our position, him sat on a stool and me on his lap as we watch Fangs and Toni play pool.

The next day is the day my dad gets out. Jug, Betty and I are waiting for him to get out. As soon as they open the gate I hug him
"Dad I missed you"
"I missed you to Princess" he kissed the top of my head. I pull away to let Jug hug him
"Hey Betty"
"Hi Mr Jones" we walk over to the car
"Alice?"
"Is it true what they say about men who have just been released from prison FP?" I look at her confused
"What do they say?"
"They're incredibly sexually frustrated"
"Mom"
"Woah"
"Ewww" I scrunch my nose making everyone laugh. Alice drives us home. Instead of joining them at Pops for what will probably be an awkward lunch I walk to Sweet Pea's trailer
"Hey baby"
"Hey" I kiss him on the cheek
"How's your dad?"
"Good. Although Alice Cooper had to make a comment about men coming out of prison"
"What did she say?" Sweets laughs as he puts an arm around me. I look up to him
"She wanted to know if it's true that men getting out of prison are sexually frustrated"
"Woah ok wasn't expecting that. I just made a sandwich, want one?"
"Yes please I'm starving"
