Chapter 29

I'm sat with Toni and Veronica in the gym
"Wait so Nana Rose rang you?" I ask
"Yeah. Although we got disconnected before she could say to much beyond the fact that Cheryl was nearby and that she was with the sisters"
"The sisters? What sisters?" I ask
"Well theres the sisters of quiet mercy but that's more like a orphanage. I don't think they do gay conversions there"
"Well who would know for sure?" Toni asks
"Oh my god. Of course" Veronica says almost realising something. Veronica stands up, Toni and I grab our bags and follow her to see Kevin. We explain what's going on to him
"Yes is absolutely could be the sisters of quiet mercy. It's one of the few places in this country that still does conversion therapy. Off the books of course"
"What the hell decade is this?" Toni says angry. Honestly I agree with her
"During prohibition the sisters ran a distillery in the basement. They used to smuggle booze out to sweetwater river via a tunnel that still exists today"
"Ok? Could we use this tunnel to get to Cheryl?" I ask folding my arms
"Potentially. Gay boys in the program use it to sneak out to hook up with perfectly nice young men like myself in fox forest"
"Wait. Kevin can you lead us to this secret gay hook up tunnel?" Veronica asks
"I can probably find it but we should go at night"
"Ok it's settled Toni met me at the Whyte Wyrm later. Your on shift tonight but I'll swap it with someone else" my phone starts ringing and its Jughead. When I answer he starts yelling
"Ella, Toni Serpent meeting now"
"Woah woah calm down. We're on our way"
"Toni we got to go now" I take her hand and run into the meeting room.

"We need to go" Jughead says pacing back and forth
"What's going on?"
"It's Betty she's in trouble. Look it's a lot to explain but her brother chick did something bad now this person's family are threatening Betty, her mum and Chick. I'm going to help them" I walk over to the front of the classroom in front of all the young Serpents
"Right listen up. Jugheads girlfriend needs our help"
"Why should we help the Northsider?" one of them asks
"Because my brother is a Serpent and either way he will go to help her" it stays quiet "what's the first law?"
"No serpent sands alone" Pea yells, I smile at him
"So get your knifes ready. We may even get to rough someone up" Pea takes my hand "let's go" we make our way to the bikes and begin the short journey to the coopers place.

We get ready to storm in knifes in hand. Jug kicks down the door I follow behind him with Sweet Pea and Fangs, the rest of the Serpents follow
"You think you two can take all of us. Try it" Betty says as I walk up to the woman
"You brought back up. Does this mean you want me to go to the sheriff start making a stink?"
"Honestly I wouldn't even bother. This" I point at the Serpents "is nothing compared to what who you'll face if you even dare to touch one of us, you may have heard of my father FP Jones" I smile wickedly at them while moving back over to Sweet Pea
"Oh and not to mention that we're friends with the sheriffs son. So who's side do you think they will pick?" Betty says
"The coopers are one of the most respected families in Riverdale" Jughead starts
"You two are just Centerville scumbags"
"Anything that was in your car at the swamp washed away else we would have heard about it by now. So why don't you just take the money and run?" the woman takes the money and we make a path for them to walk. We follow them out and I push the woman to the side of the house
"Money now" I say as she laughs "I'm not playing. Give me that money now before I let them take it" I point to the boys behind me
"You kids won't do shit" I roll my eyes and knee her in the stomach
"Wanna say that again?"
"Fine take the money" she throws it on the floor and tries to get out my grip. I let her go
"Oh and if I have see you or hear that your in Riverdale again. I will kill you got it?" They don't say anything, they just walk off. I feel hands around my waist
"Not going to lie but your hot when your mad" I smile and chuckle shaking my head. I pick up the money and head back inside
"Sorry about your door Mrs Cooper" jug says
"Hey sorry to interrupt but here's your money" I put it on the table
"Thank you both. Thank your friends for me"
"We will. Don't worry I think they got the message to stay away and if they ever bother you again let us know. I'll be happy to rough them up a bit more" I smile and head out
"Where to now?" Pea asks
"Whyte Wyrm. I got a few things I gotta sort out" I get on the back of Peas bike.

Once we arrive I head up to the office while Pea and Fangs play a game of pool. I manage to change Tonis shift and track where the shipments are. I sit in the office for what seems like hours when there's a knock on the door
"Come in" I say finishing writing something in one of the books
"You ready?" I hear Toni
"You know it" I walk out and down the stairs to see Veronica stood by Fangs and Pea "Sweets your in charge. Fangs your in charge of Pea" we walk out and head to the meeting point where Kevin is already waiting for us
"Alright according to my intel the tunnel that leads from the main residence comes out here"
"Ok that's our way in then" Veronica says, you know what recently she's been less and less annoying maybe I can get on with her after all this is over. Archie seems to regret pulling a gun in my face so maybe I should try with them "Kevin you stay here if we're not back in 15 minutes call Fangs and your dad" I say
"Got it" he says nodding his head. Toni and I get out crowbars and start prying the door open. Once inside we split up and start running down a hallway looking for Cheryl. I look in every room with no look, I can hear Toni calling Cheryls name
"Toni I cant find her" I run up to her
"Have you checked in here?"
"No not yet" I say as she opens the door
"Cheryl are you in here?" Toni runs in as I stand by the door
"Toni?"
"We came to rescue you" I say while texting Veronica to get out
"You did?"
"Yes now come on we need to go" I say. Cheryl runs to Toni and they kiss "as much as I have been waiting for this moment since seeing you at the movies we kinda need to go" I say even more panicked now
"Guys there's a bunch of nuns coming we have to go" Veronica says and we all begin to run down the hall and through the tunnel. Eventually we make it out all of us running through the woods and to our bikes
"Toni take Cheryl to the Wyrm I'll drop these two off at their places" Toni nods. Veronica and Kevin get into Peas truck that I borrowed. Once on the main road I sigh
"Thank you for taking us home" Veronica says
"You know. You don't annoy me as much. Maybe we can try and be friends"
"I'd like that"
